Mi mm wm In his first press conference on the Normandy beachhead, Lieut. * Gen. Omar Bradley, commander of the American ground forces, points the way toward Berlin. The general was obviously pleased at what he had to tell the war correspondents. The capture of the port of Cherbourg made it possible for him to turn his eyes toward larger and -tronger fields, eventually with eyes set on Berlin. (PqaacticiL Chairman G. J. Sanders, Jr., stresses the importance of the purchase of series E bonds in the present war loan drive. He states that the county is ahead, of its quota on the other issues but is short on E bonds and he would like to bring this to the attention of all those contemplating the purchase of bonds during the re maining few days of the drive. Announcement is made that a picture, “Prices Unlimited,” will be shown at the Hollywood The atre on Friday afternoon, July 7th, at 3:30 o’clock, to O. P. Additional allotments of materi als have b^en made for the man ufacture of canning equipment, but since that calls for some of the most critical materials and workmanship, it is possible that everyone wanting such equipment might not be able to find it in time for the rush season. How ever. sharing by neighbors should enable available equipment in the state to get the home canning job done. Home demonstration agents in everv county and home economics teachers in many of the high schools are available to teach canning methods and assist with any problems in connection with preserving the great food supply that, is coming in from Victory gardens and trucl patches. There are two types of canning necessary, the specialists explain. The simple boiling water bath is used for products <r containing acids. This includes fruits, ber ries, grapes, two vegetables—to matoes and pimientoes—and one vegetable product — sauerkraut. The facilities for doing this sort of canning are available to every one, as it requires no special ap paratus. The other sort of canning is that of the non-acid vegetables, and it includes all vegetables ex cept tomatoes, pimientos, and sauerkraut.
