Hermon, which was in northern Palestine and the most conspicuous 'landmark in the country. As on many another occasion, Jesus had taken the chosen, three with him. How the three knew the identity of the two who talked with Jesus, we do not know. It is striking that the Law, the Prophets, and the Gospel were all concerned in the transfiguration. This transcendant occurence strengthened the humanity of Jesus and the faith of the dis ciples concerning the heavenly mission of Jesus, and it shoulr confirm our belief in his divinity. The three disciples were doubt less led to ask the question con cerning Elijah because they hac just seen him in glory on thr mount of transfiguration. Th answer of Jesus may indicate tha John the Baptist had come in the character of Elijah to be the fore runner of the Christ. t The afflictsd child was healed through his own father’s faith There are greatly needed at thr present time, fathers and moth ers whose faith can save thei: children from the evil that is ir the world. In answer to the dis ciples’ question as to why the: could not heal the boy, Jesus .said that that “kind” could come |crth “but by prayer And fasting.’ Whatever may be our application of what Jesus said, his words should encourage us to pray in most difficult cases. They may be obtained in bearer form with interest coupons attached, or registered as to principal and interest. They may be pledged as collateral for loans, including loans by commercial banks.
