Cadet David Edmunds of Clem- Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Bowick of McCormick announce the marriage of their daughter, Lillie Bell,’ to Cpl. Carl M. Parsons of Augusta, Ga. 'The marriage was quietly solem nized on Saturday afternoon, Jan uary 2, at 6 o’clock by Judge J. Frank Mattion with a few close friends and relatives as witnesses. Mrs. Parsons is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bowick. She is a member of the graduating class of McCormick High School 1943. She was dressed in a suit of powder blue with navy accessories. Cpl. Parsons is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Parsons of Orange, Texas. He is now stationed at Camp Gordon. C HERE ARE THE FACTS ABOUT SHOE RATIONING 1 2 3 4 Stamp No. 17 War Ration Book One (Sugar and Cof fee Book) entitles you to buy one pair of shoes be tween now and June 15, 1943. X Each person will be allow ed to buy three pairs of shoes a year one pair dur ing each of three desig nated periods. All shoes containing leath er and all rubber-soled shoes are rationed. House slippers, soft-soled baby ^ shoes, rubber overshoes and arctics are not ration ed. Members of a family may r^ol coupons. Thus the children in the family, who wear out shoes faster, can obtain new shoes on a coupon relinquished by the father or mother if necessary. Bicycles also are available to pupils who need them to get to and from school. Certificates should be obtained from local ra tioning boards. Canned Foods Rationing of commercially can ned, bottled and frozen fruits and vegetables, including juices, all soups, and dried fruits under the point system will begin Monday, March 1. Retail sales of these foods will be suspended at mid night Saturday, February 20, and registration for War Ration Book Two will start Monday, February , 22, continuing for six days. Coffee 1 Stamp No. 25 in War Ration Book One good for one pound of coffee until midnight March 21. Fuel Oil Coupons marked “Period 4” be came valid January 30 and will be good for nine gallons until April 16. Coupons marked “Period 3” will be good for nine gallons until February 19. Gasoline Coupon No. 4 in “A” gasoline books good for three gallons un til March 22. Value of “B” and “C” coupons still three gallons. '*T4f’’ and “T-2” coupons good for | five/gallons. License number of • automobile at time of gasoline mirchase must be written in ink, along with name of state in which automobile is "registered, on back of each “A”, “B” and “C” coupon. Name and address of owner must be written in ink on back of each “T” coupon. Meat Date when meat rationing will begin has not been announced. No restrictions have been placed on sales of live meat. Shoes Stamp No. 17 in War Ration Book One can be used to pur chase a pair of shoes through June 15. The stamp must be tom out of the book at the time of purchase in the presence of the! person selling or delivering the shdes. If you buy shoes by mail, the stamp may be detacher and sent along with the mail order. Stamp No. 17 is transferable a- mong members of a family living in the same household and re lated by blood, marriage or a- doption. For example, parents may use their stamps to provide extra shoes for their children. If a person needs to buy shoes and has no Stamp No. 17 in his im mediate family which he can use. he may apply to his War Price and Rationing Board for a shoe purchase certificate. Certificates for the purchase of men’s rub ber boots and rubber work shoes must be obtained from rationing boards. Stoves New coal and oil-fired heaters are being rationed. Persons who will use new coal stoves to re place oil burners may apply to their local War Price and Ration ing Boards for purchase certifi cates.
