Claude Evans are in Washington, D. C., for a few days, on business. Mrs. J. H. Cannon is visiting her parents in Cornelia, Ga., this week. The Rev. and Mrs. L. K. Simpson visited his mother at Ware Shoals several days this week. Private Winton Moore of the U. S. Army, who was on a visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Moore, of Clinton, last week, visited rela tives and friends here last Thurs day. j Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Arrington, Jr., of Winter Haven, Fla., an nounce the birth of a son, William Sidney Arrington, m, Dec. 12. X — Walker-Taylor From The Index-Journal, Green wood, Dec. 11. Interesting to a number of friends here was the marriage of Miss Mayme Louise Walker, of McCormick and Charlotte, to J. R. E. Taylor, of Charlotte and Pied mont, Ala. Miss Walker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Walker, of Mc Cormick and Mr. Taylor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Taylor of Piedmont, Ala. They were married at 8 o’clock December 6, by Rev. J. Claude Evans, of McCormick, at the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. E. L. Sanders, Jr., and Mr. Sanders. The ring ceremony was used. The Sanders home was rated for the occasion in gladioli and ferns. The bride’s dress was satin embroidered in pearls, with ong sleeves and a lace yoke. The skirt flowed into a short iace in serted train. Her - fingertip veil was caught with a coronet of orange blossoms. Miss Betty Walker, sister of the bride, was her only attendant. Her dress was orchid and she carried pink carnations. The bride’s mother wore blue crepe and she wore red carna- ions. Mrs. S. L. Edmonds, grand mother of the bride, was dressed in black and wore a white cor- deco- white white sage. After the ceremony Mrs. San ders entertained with an informal reception. The bride’s cake was cut and ice cream served. Mrs. Sanders was assisted in serving by Mrs. Erskine Winn. After a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Taylor will be at home at 3012 Viriginia Ave., Charlotte, N. C. The following out-of-town guests were here for the wedding: Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Claude Evans, and Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Lee, all of McCormick, and Miss Lois Walker, of Charlotte. X— Womans Society Of Christian Service Holds Meeting The Womans Society of Chris tian Service of the local Metho dist Church met Wednesday of last week at the home of Mrs. Jack Scruggs with Mrs. George Rosen- swike, Mrs. Paul Holloway and Mrs. J. S. Strom serving as co hostesses. Mrs. J. S. Strom presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. W. N. Smith. A Christmas program was con ducted, with Mrs. William Keown, Mrs. Harold Browne and Mrs. El mer Creighton taking part. The new pastor. Rev. J. Claude Evans, was the guest speaker, using the subject “The Divine Presence.” A delightful social hour followed with Mrs. C. H. Workman in charge. Delicious hot punch and sandwiches were served by the hostesses. Card Of Thanks Another Local Boy Makes Good .Mr. Everette E. Deason, seconi son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry R. Den - son, of McCormick, recently gradu ated from the Naval Radio School at Indiannapolis, Indianna, with a i average of 92. He enlisted in the navy last February and is now taking an advanced course in radio at a school in Memphis, Tenn. Local Girl In Student Recital Gainesville, Ga. — Miss Anni Bussey Seigler, sophomore at Br?- nau College, and the daughter •-'f Mr. and Mrs. James W. Seigler of McCormick, S. C., was presented in a student recital Thursda y evening, December 10, at 8:30 o’ clock. Her vocal selection .was “Spring’s Awakening,” by Sander son. Miss Seigler is a member of Phi Mu, national social sorority, an i is an active and popular student on Brenau campus. We wish to use this means of expressing our most sincere thanks to our neighbors and other friends for their many acts of kindness to us during our recent sad bereavement. Extends Thanks For Splendid Pounding In my ministry of forty four years I have never known a mors considerate people than those of the little village of Plum Branch. For the splendid pounding given my family on December 14th by the Sunday School of Saint Paul Churoh, and some others as well, I extend my most hearty thanks.
