GREENWOOD, S. C.
The regular meeting of the
Y. W. A. was held Tuesday night,
Dec. 2, at the home of Mrs. D. C.
Talbert. During discussion of
business, plans were made for the
“Lottie Moon Offering” meeting,
which will be held Thursday night,
Dec. 11th. Plans were made to
have a Christmas tree at this
meeting.
At the conclusion, of the busi
ness session, one of the most in
teresting programs it has been, the !
privilege of the Y. W. A. to hear i
was presented by two of the mem- !
bers, Miss Mabel Lyon and Miss
Frances Rush. Scripture was read
by Miss Rush, after which Miss
Lyon introduced their program by
a statement that the poets and
artists had inspired it. The hymn,
“Joy to the World”, was sung by
all the members and the program
was based on the life of Jesus.
Large pictures were displayed of
“The Shepherds”, of “Jesus at the
age of 12”, “Real Palestine Shep
herd,” “The Lest Sheep”, “The
Crucifixion” and “Resurrection
Morn”, an.d interesting comments
about each one was made by Miss
Lyon.
Throughout the evening lovely
special music was rendered by
Miss Mildred Gunter, Miss Frances
Rush and Mrs. D. C. Talbert. They
sang “Silent Night, Holy Night,”
“The Ninety and Nine”, The Old
Rugged Cross”, and “Christ Arose”,
intermixed with the showing of
the pictures.
Shortly after the completion of
the program a loud knock was
heard and a “telegram” was de
livered to Miss Wylene Lee, bride-
elect of December. This telegram
was a lovely poem and directed
Miss Lee to look behind her chair.
There she found a huge white box
tied with a red bow and filled to
overflowing with surprise gifts
from the members of the Y. W. A.
After Miss Lee voiced thanks,
Mrs. Talbert, assisted by Miss Mil
dred Gunter, Miss Lyon, and Miss
Rush, served a chicken salad
course with coffee.
