Word has been received here
that Corporal Thomas B. Minor,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Butler Minor
of McCormick, who enlisted in the
U. S. Army last September, has
been appointed sergeant, and is
now stationed at Albrook Field,
Canal Zone.
Lieut, and Mrs. John N. Talbert
of Camp Stewart, Ga., came up

The meeting was opened by the
singing of “Throw out the Life
line’’, and after a brief discussion
of business, Miss Marie Sharpton
brought the very inspiring de
votional, which was taken from
Matt. 6:5-15, and Luke 11:1.
Mrs. Sibert had charge of the
program for the month and after
a song: “Oh. Zion Haste”, which
is the YWA Hymn, she introduced
an interesting subject, “The
Plight of the Jews in Other
Lands’*. Talks were made by the
following:
“In Germany”, Miss Wylene Lee.
“In Poland”, Miss Emma Rankin.
“In Russia”, Mrs. W. C. Brown.
“In Rumania”, Miss Minnie Beth
Brown.
“In other conquered Lands”,
Mrs. J. E. Hutchison.
Conclusion”, Mrs. Sibert, Jr.
After this, Mrs. D. C. Talbert
discussed “Jews in our Own Land
and How We May Help Them”.
During the enjoyable social hour,
Mrs. Sibert, Jr., assisted by Mrs
G. P. Watkins and Mrs. T. J.
Sibert, Sr., served delicious iced
tea, sandwiches and candy.

went a tonsilectomy, and is re
cuperating at home.

Mrs. Homer Corley was called
to the bedside of her mother, at
Glenn Springs, last Friday night.
There seems to be no improvement
for her.
