National Cotton
Week To Boost

Clemson, Anril 21.—“National
Cotton Week, May 14-16, announ
ced jointly by the National Cotton
Council of America and the Cot
ton-Textile Institute, offers a fine
opportunity for South Carolina
people to help boost cotton con
sumption”, says Director D. W.
Watkins of the Clemson College
Extension Service.
“It is an opportunity for indi
viduals, organizations, and com
munities to get behind this im
portant campaign to move a
greater volume of cotton goods
and thus increase cotton consump
tion. The benefits of the increase
in cotton consumption would of
course come not only to cotton
producers but to the merchants,
the cohsumers, and the general
public.”
In promoting National Cotton
Week the'sponsors will have the
cooperative aid of window dis
plays by the merchants, news
paper advertising and publicity
radio broadcasts, moving picture
flashes, fashion shows and other
features by chambers of com
merce and service clubs.
It is pointed out that the cot
ton-producing farmer and his
family evidently stand to benefit
more fully from the results of
National Cotton Week than any
other group, and they stand
ready to lend their share of sup
port to the movement.

The contest calls for preparing
plans for the operation of a
family-sized Low-country farm,
with a first prize of $100, a second
prize of $50, third, fourth, and
