McCracken, Editor, McCormick Messenger, w McCormick, South Carolina. Dear Mr. McCracken: We are handing you order Nos., rerial Nos., names and addresses of SO questionnaires. This brings its to 50 per cent of our registrants to whom we have mailed question naires and is all that we shall mall out at this time. SB per cent or 200 question- nairas have been classified. Out of this classification, there were St whs. and 80 cols, that were classified in class 1-A. There will be some of these 61 class 1-A men that will be disqualified on ac count of physical disabilities but we feel that we shall have suffi cient number to fill our initial quota after their physical exami nation. We wish to express to you our appreciation for the space you have given us in your paper and for your fine cooperation in every way. We shall be giving, you, from time to time, information that will be of interest to the public generally and to the registrants. Again thanking you, we are. Yours very truly, Dan A. Bell, President, Mrs. George N. Dorn, Clerk, Local Board No. 57, McCormick, S. C. Each week she will bring you up-to-the-minute news that will help you with your Christmas shopping and tell you of places where you’ll find vperfect service with courteous and efficient salespeople.) When I went into G&mbrell Hardware Company in Greenwood recently and tried to decide which of the things on display I wanted most, I was like the 15-year-old mountain girl who last week made her first trip to the city. I just walked from one counter to an other, wanting so many things! But their Pottery and Coventry Ware is not to be resisted. Pottery in shades of blue, brown, green and rose that blends with everything and reminds one of rich old tapestry. Prices range from 50c to $5.00. The oddly shaped Vases at $2.00 and $2.50 are perfectly beautiful. The Hammered Aluminum at Gambrell Hardware Company is one of their “best Sellers” now. If you Want something different for your table or buffet try using one of the round hammered trays piled high with red apples and sprays of silvered shrubs and the unique candle-holders to go with it. This hammered Aluminum is so sturdy looking and different. There are trays, fruit bowls, candlesticks, bon bon and relish dishes ranging in price from $1.00 to $3.95. This price is within the reach of everyone. If anybody were to ask me what medium priced gift I’d rather have at Gambrell Hardware Company than anything else, I’d im mediately say, “A pair of figurines in Coventry Ware.” They also have Book Ends and Placques of this same material. But for*a heavy mantel—especially one in a formal room, you’ll want a pair of urns in Coventry Ware. If you use these you’ll truly have a mantel of distinction. And a mantel that make or mar an otherwise perfect room. When you consider their decorative value these pieces of Coventry Ware from Gambrell Hardware Company are very reasonable. They certainly do have some pretty Lamps at Gambrell Hard- Company. Floor Lamps that range in price from $6.95 to $18.50 are something special and belong with other pretty accessories for a lovely room. There’s a Table Lamp that I like though. It be longs in a room with old and priceless treasures. The base is painted with small flowers and it has that “old timey” look. Oh, and don’t forget to see the Hurricane Lamps. They have electric hurricanes and ones to be used without electricity. Anybody who has antique furniture should have a Hurricane Lamp—or a pair of them. They have lots of other things to go with your hurricane or Period Design Lamp—all the little things to help make a perfect room. —Adv. 451 719—Rallie (Ralph) Walker, McCormick, S.
