June has been named as the
month for their marriage by Miss
Miriam McKinney of Greenwood
and Dr. James Thomas Rogers of
Atlanta, whose engagement was
announced yesterday at a lunch-
epn event at which Miss McKin
ney’s sisters, Miss Elizabeth Mc
Kinney and Miss Doris McKinney
were hostesses.
Announcement of the engage
ment of the popular local girl and
the Atlanta doctor, also well
known here, centers a widespread
social interest among a large cir
cle of friends and relatives.
Miss McKinney is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. McKinney of
this city where she has always
made her home. Dr. Rogers is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Rogers of
Gainesville, Ga.
A number of close friends of the
bride-elect gathered at noon yes
terday at the Oregon hotel where
the private dining room was the
scene of the charming luncheon
which revealed the engagement of
the prominent couple.
The luncheon table followed a
decorative theme which empha
sized a bridal green and white for
the announcement occasion, with
a centerpiece of white lilies and
narcissus interspersed with green
ery. Places were marked by cards
and by appropriate old fashioned
nosegays of pastel shaded flowers
against lace mats. To each corsage
was attached an artistic card bear
ing the news of the engagement of
Miss McKinney and Dr. Rogers.
A larger nosegay of white flowers
showered with white ribbons
marked the place of the bride -
elect.
During the luncheon hour the
hostesses remembered their sister
with a gift for her trousseau.
A delicious course luncheon was
served the guests who gathered
for the lovely occasion announcing
the engagement of the couple.

mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. B.

of the bridegroom-elect; Miss

Postmaster Resigns
HARMON TAKES POSITION AS
McCORMICK CARRIER
Ji B. Harmon. Jr., resigned as
postmaster of McCormick on April
14, to take the place as rural mail
carrier on R.F.D. No. 1 out of Mc
Cormick.
This place was made vacant by
the death of T. Earl Fuller who
died in 1938, and his substitute, D.
C. Talbert, had served the time
since. Mr. Harmon had served as
postmaster for the past nine years
and was recently given an award
for noteworthy public service by
the federal department.
Hamilton Remsen of McCormick
has been appointed as temporary
postmaster, pending an examina
tion. He took over the office on
Monday, April 15.
