McKinney-Giles

throughout this section is the
announcement of the marriage of
Miss - Edna Mae McKinney and
Thomas D. Giles which was quiet
ly solemnized Friday evening at
8 o’clock at the Superintendent’s
home at De la Howe, the Rev. E.
F. Gettys officiating. Only a few
close friends witnessed the im
pressive ring ceremony.
For her wedding Mrs. Giles had
chosen an outfit of Vikine Blue
with black accessories. She is
the third daughter of Mrs. Rossie
Holcomb McKinney and the late
W. J. McKinney of Simpsonville.
After completing her high school
course in Simpsonville for two
years she specialized in music at
Winthrop College, later completing
a course in Beauty Culture at
Waldrep’s Beauty Academy in
Greenville. For the past two and
one half years . she has managed
the Brockman Beauty Shop in Mc
Cormick, where she has endeared
herself to a wide circle of friends.
Mr. Giles is the third son of Mr.
and Mrs. S. D. Giles of McCormick.
He was educated at the McCor
mick High School and for the
past several years has been con
nected with the C. & W. C. Rail
way Company and located in
Greenwood.
After a short wedding trip Mr.
and Mrs. Giles are now making
their home here on Main Street.

out the house gave a festive ac
cent to this hapoy oecasion. In
the living room and dining room
a col^r scheme of red and white
ore vailed. A white tree with red
lights and silver filled one corner
of the room opoosite the mirror
reflected rrantel banked with sil
vered white branches flooded bv
concealed red Christmas lights.
Th» beautiful lace covered dining
table had for its centerpiece a
Wreath of silvered white branches
centered by 12 white lighted
tapers. Silver compotes held red
and white mints. The bouffet
had a similar arrangement.
Guests were greeted at the front
bv Mrs. C. K. Epting and Mrs. C.
H. Huguley and presented to the
receiving line composed of Mrs.
Talbert, her guests of honor. Mrs.
T. L. Edmunds and Mrs. P. C.
Dorn. Showing them to the din
ing room were Mrs. M. P. Hamil
ton. Mrs. P. R. Brown and Mrs.
Jajnes Marion Dorn. Ice cream
moulded as a red Christmas bell.

coffee was served by Mrs. Wistar
Harmon, Mrs. H. N. Coleman and
Mrs. W. E. Britt. Others assisting
Mrs.- Talbert in entertaining her
gVests were Mrs. J. S. Dukes. Mrs.
Miriam Hughes. Mrs. J. S. Strom,
Mrs. James Keown, and Miss
Louise Bracknell. Music was fur
nished by Mrs. F. A. Dean, Mrs. ! C.
C. Morgan, Mrs. J. A. Talbert,
pianists, and Mrs. Lloyd Hen
dricks, violinist. Nearly a hun
dred people called during the re
ceiving hours.

Miss Edmunds
Mrs. T. L. Britt and Miss Eloise
Britt entertained in a iriost de
lightful manner Saturday after
noon in honor of Miss Mary Ellen
Edmunds whose marriage to J.
Michael Leland of Charleston on
January the 13th will be an out
standing event of interest through
out the state.
The receiving rooms of Mrs.
Britt’s home where this lovely
party was held, were beautifully
decorated in the Yuletide colors.
Red tapers shed a soft light for i
the more than forty guests who
enjoyed several games of Chinese
Checkers. Suddenly little Doug
lass Britt entered the room where
the bride-elect was seated and
raising a tiny umbrella announced
that a “shower” was coming. Miss
Edmunds received many* hand
some gifts. The hostesses served
a tempting salad course.

Miss Edmunds was honored ‘
with a kitchen shower on Novem- i 1
ber 25th given by Misses Billy and ‘
Katrina Morrah at their home in
Bellvue. A profusion of fall
flowers and evergreens were used
in the spacious rooms where the
thirty-odd guests were received.
Following a round of oxciting
games the hostesses served deli
cious refreshments indicative of
the Thanksgiving season.
