Farm Women Plan
Flower Show
The McCormick County Council
of Farm Women will sponsor the
Annual Flower Show at the Com
munity House in McCormick
about the middle of May. All
flower lovers and gardeners
throughout the county are invited
to attend and enter exhibits.
The classes of flowers, rules,
dates and time will be published
later.

Egg Hunt Is Enjoyed
Sondley Robinson, Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. Sondley Robinson,
celebrated his sixth birthday on
April 8th with an egg hunt party,
entertaining about 20 little girls
and bnvs.
A cake with six candles held
the center or the table.
Ice cream and cookies were
served, and each little guest car-
, ried home a gaily colored egg,
wishing Sondley, Jr., many more
happy birthdays.
Plum Branch To Give

Friday Night, April 21
The Parent Teachers Association
of the Plum Branch School will
present a 2-Act play, “The Strike
Of The Ladies’ Aid”, at the school
house on Fridav nieht. April 21,
beginning at 8:15 o’clock.
This play brings out all the
peculiarities and fun-deriving
thoughts of the small community
trying to do big things with little
to do with. It should be very
entertaining. The price of admis
sion is 10c and 15c. Everyone is
invited to attend.

There will be a livestock show
&.’iid sale in Abbeville on Tuesday,
April 25th. Farmers of McCormick
County will be interested to learn
that they may compete for the
prizes to be offered. There will be
the following classes for cattle
and hogs with prizes of $10.00 for
first prize, $5.00 for second prize
and $2.00 for third prize offered
in each class:
Cattle Department—
Class I—Baby Beeves.
Class II—Light Steers.
Class IH—Heavy Steers.
Class TV—Pen of Three Steers.
Swine Department—
Class I—Single Gilt, 125-250
pounds.
Class II—Single Barrow, 160-250
pounds.
Class HI—Five Fat Hogs, 150-
200 pounds.
Class IV—Five Fat Hogs, 201-
250 pounds.
In addition to the above prizes,
ribbons will be offered for the
champion steer, the champion and
reserve champion individual hog,

The sale will be held in the
afternoon after the judging of the
animals and awarding of the

“Pirate Gold,” the Lions club’s
musical revue with a bumper crop
of Spartanburg talent, was pre
sented in the Converse college au
ditorium last night before an en
thusiastic audience of 500 persons
It was the finest array of loca 1
talent ever presented on a Spar
tanburg stage in a similar oroduc-
tion, in the opinion of this re-
viewer.

introducing the speakers and
guests.
The principal address was made
by Department Commander R. K.

American Legion was being looked

port on membership in this dis
trict and Legionnaire Groeschel,
general manager of the Veterans’
hospital in Columbia, brought in
formation concerning such facili
ties available to veterans.

jeville.
Other distinguished guests were

tia Mullinax of McCormick, all
sisters of Thos. J. Lyon, Jr., for
whom the Post is named, and the
first McCormick County son killed
in action.
