Harmon, Jr., will be glad to learn that she is recuperating satisfactorily from an operation she underwent at the Tri-County Hospital in Orange burg last Thursday. Mr. G. J. Sanders, who has been ill at his heme here the past sev eral weeks, is reported as improv ing. Miss Mildred Gunter of Lander College was the guest of Mr, and Mrs. D. C. Talbert for the week end. Mr. and Mrs. James Faulkner and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Laye of Greenville visited relatives here the past week end. Mr. Dean is attending the Social Welfare School of Tulane Univer sity. Mrs. Wistar Harmon has taken his place hefe as County Director of the Dept, of Public Welfare. Mr. Lawrence Riddle and Mrs. Everette Riddle and little son of Woodruff and Mrs. Merle Knight and Mrs. Hoyt Abercrombie of Gray Court visited Mr. Austin Abercrombie recently. Mrs. Carrie Cornelia Freeland of near Plum Branch celebrated her 94th birthday “at home” to her friends Wednesday, February 22nd. Mrs. J. J. Dorn is spending some time at Miami Beach, Florida. Miss Alma Faulkner of Augusta spent the week end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Faulkner. Miss Nell Fooshe of Coker Col lege, Hartsville, spent the week end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Fooshe. Mr. J. W. McBride cf Willington was a visiter here one day the past week. Cadets Carl Faulkner and Charles Morgan of Clemson Col lege spent the week end with rel atives here. Miss Jane Bracknell of Coker College, Hartsville, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Bracknell, cf Pium Branch. Mr. J. L. Smith was in Atlanta one day the past week buying mules and mares for his sales stables here. Mrs. Annie Ryan of Meriwether was a visitor here last Thursday afternoon. Mr. L. L. Hester of Mt. Carmel was a visitor here one day the past week. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Talbert and daughter, Miss Miriam, of Augusta visited relatives here the past week end. Mr. J. T. McGrath attended the Chevrolet dealers’ zone meeting in Anderson last Friday. The W. M. S. cf the Baptist church will observe a special season of prayer for Home Mis sions, Monday, Thursday and Fri day of next week at 3:30. Wells-Connell Of interest to friends threugh- out this section is the announce ment of the marriage cf Miss Alic* Lee Weils of Plum Branch and Mr. William Homer Connell cf Lincolnton. Ga., which was quietly solemnized Sept. 5. 1933, at the home of Judge and Mrs. J. Frank Mattison in McCormick with Judge Mattison officiating. A close friend, Mrs. J. W. Reece, of Sumter, S. C., was the bride’s only attendant. Mrs. Connell is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Wells of Plum Branch, a talented musician and a young woman of personal charm. She received her education at the McCormick High School and Lander College. Mr. Connell, a native of Valdos ta, Ga., is the son of Mrs. J. J.
