CITATION OF LETTERS

BY J. FRANK MATTTSON, PRO
BATE JUDGE:
WHEREAS, Mrs. Honnie Newby
made suit to me to grant her and
E. P. Newby Letters of Adminis
tration of the Estate and effects
of Charlie E. Newby;
THESE ARE THEREFORE, to
cite and admonish all and singular
the Kindred and Creditors of the
said Charlie E. Newby, deceased,
that they be and appear before
me. in the Court of Probate, to be
held at McCormick, S. C., on Feb
ruary 24th, 1939, Next, after pub
lication hereof, at 11 o’clock in
the forenoon, to show cause, if
many countries besides our own
adhere, is entitled to serious con
sideration, though not necessarily
offhand acceptance.
Such a proposal has been made
by Clarence K. Streit, a gentleman
of high scholarly attainments and
close, practical contracts with and
understanding of the national
points of view and principles of all
the nations of the world. Mr.
Streit has lately returned to
America from ten years spent in
Geneva as the chief reporter of
the activities of the League of
Nations for the most impartial
newspaper in America, the New
York Times.
Mr. Streit’s qualifications and
experience entitle him to a re
spectful hearing. Therefore, we
believe there should be serious
study of his proposal of a Federal
Union of the leading democracies
of the world, organized on similar
lines to the Federal Union of the
thirteen independent colonies
which got together to form the
United States of America.
If the Federal Union now exist
ing in this country were to be ex
tended to take in as members, on
the same basis as states have been
taken in in the past, such nations
as England, Ireland, Canada, Aus
tralia, New Zealand, the Union of
South Africa, France, Switzerland,
Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Nor
way, Sweden and Finland, that
world-wide combination of de
mocracies would rule the world
and provide the most effective
possible insurance of human de
velopment and prosperity and the
surest safeguard against war.
•It is an idea worth considering.

SO DA SATISFIES
GRAIN’S URGE
When winter breaks and spring
warmth enters the soil—that’s the
time your grain get£ the urge to stool
out, cover the ground and send up
shoots to reach for sunshine. Just
before this growth starts is the time
to top-dress with ARCADIAN
NITRATE OF SODA, at 150 to 200
pounds per acre.
Oats, wheat, rye and barley need
nitrogen mos/ at this spring start of
active growth. Without plenty of ni
trogen, stooling is poor, growth is
sluggish, there are fewer stalks and
yields are low. ARCADIAN NI
TRATE OF SODA furnishes quick
acting nitrogen which enables plants
to make quick vigorous growth. The
stand is thickened and the number
of stalks per plant is doubled and
trebled, with each stalk an added
producer of plump, heavy grain.
When spring top-dressing with
ARCADIAN NITRATE OF SODA
has been balanced with good fertil
izer treatment the previous year,
farmers find that 100 pounds of
ARCADIAN means 10 to 15 extra
bushels of oats or 6 to 8 extra bush
els of wheat.
Plan now to harvest extra yields
of low-cost, high-quality grain. Top-
dress with 150 to 200 pounds of
ARCADIAN per acre and get it on
before spring growth starts. Be sure
to tell your fertilizer man you want
