A lovely shower complimenting Mrs. Leonard Creswell, a .recent bride, of this city, was given on Friday afternoon at the attractive home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. F. E. Thurmond, in the Red Oak Grove community, with Mrs. W. W. Griffis and Mrs. Boyd Agnew as assisting hostesses. The color scheme of green and white was carried out in the dec orations and refreshments and with many hyacinths and growing plants scattered over the house, reminded the visitors that spring was almost here. Mrs. Griffis and Mrs. Agnew were in charge of entertainment# A cloth contest was won by Mrs. Stanley Dorn, followed by a kitch en contest won by Mrs. Clyde Clegg, who in turn presented the prizes to the bride. Several appro priate games followed. Another prize was awarded Miss Dorothy Mathis for re-arranging the fum bled words in the contest, “The wrecked suit case.” Delightful selections on the piano were rendered by Mrs. G. H. Koon who furnished music during the entire afternoon. Several vocal selections were given during the afternoon by Miss Montague Bone and Miss Dorothy Mathis, two lovely young teachers from Collier’s. A miniature bride and groom— Hazel Prescott dressed in white satin, made a lovely little bride, with Raiford Dorn as the groom, preceded by the two little ushers, Curtis Bussey and Randolph Pres cott, to the strains of the wedding march led the way to the bride’s chair, presenting the lovely gifts to the bride. A lovelier array of gifts would be hard to find. Crystals, brica brae, linens, China and everything useful to begin housekeeping with, was showered on the bride. A gift from the bride’s parents was a set of China of 100 pieces. Delicious refreshments were served by the Y. W. A. girls of the Red Oak Grove community. As a fitting climax to a perfect after noon a book was passed and each guest wrote a good wish, and bit of advice to the bride. Over a hundred guests called during the afternoon and a lovely party came too soon to a happy ending. x— ■ 1 f cuuncH I ACNNOUNCEMENP MT. CARMEL A. R. P.
