Derrick announce the birth of a son, John Stallings, on October 29th. Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Gilbert and daughters, Mary Frances and Ramona, of Pendergrass, Ga., spent the week end with Mrs. Gilbert’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Charles lalbert, of Sandover. Mr. Albert Gibert of Willington was a visitor here one day this week. Mr. Woodrow Cantrell of Buford, Ga., spent the week end in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Dea- son. Mr. J. P. Brunson of Parksville was a visitor here one day the past week. Mr. Henry Ryan Deason has re turned from Chicago after com pleting his course in electricity at the Coyne Electrical School. The members of the M. C. Butler Grange No. 611 enjoyed a delight ful oyster supper at the home of Mr. W. E. Sheppard on Thursday night, Oct. 28. Mr. W. R. Miner of Plum Branch was a visitor here one day the past week. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Haynes of Hartsville, S. C., are here on a ; visit to Mrs. Haynes’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Smith. Mrs. Carrie Talbert has as her guest for several days, her brother, Mr. Ansel D. Talbert, of Washing ton, D. C. Mr. Talbert is a native of this section but for the past 36 years has been employed in the De partment of Agriculture doing Scientific Research work in Wash ington. He is a graduate of Clemson College and his many friends and relatives here greet him with pleasure upon each visit to his home town. His distinguished son, who is now Aviation Editor of The New York Herald Tribune, also i visits his aunt and other relatives here. Lucretia Henderson Watkins and the late George P. Watkins of Mc Cormick. Since her graduation from Peterson’s Business College of Greenwood she has been doing sec retarial work in McCormick. For her wedding she wore a rust suit with accessories of brown. Mr. Sibert is the elder son of Mayor and Mrs. T. Jeff Sibert of McCormick. Since graduation from the McCormick High school several years ago, he has been engaged as a farming executive. After a short wedding trip the happy young couple will make their home in Mc Cormick. -XXX- W orkman-Britt CITATION OF LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION Dr. and Mrs. Claude H. After graduation from the McCormick High School she entered Anderson College, Anderson, S. C. This year she entered Newberry college and was a popular member of the sophomore class. She has many friends who regret that her mar riage will take her away from New berry and McCormick. Mr. Britt is the second son of Mrs. Janie B. Kennedy Britt, and the late J. E. Britt, former banker and business man of McCormick. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wesley Gable announce the marriage of their daughter Frances Elizabeth to Floyd Harold Young on Saturday, October Sixteenth Nineteen Hundred and Thirty- Seven Greenwood, S. C. The marriage of Miss Gable and Mr. Young was solemnized at the home of Rev. William Pressley in Greenwood Saturday evening, Oc tober 16, at 8:15 o’clock. Mrs. Young who is a very attrac tive girl was dressed in a brown crepe suit with brown accessories. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Gable and a graduate of McCormick High School in the year 1936. Since her graduation she has held a position with one of the governmental agencies in McCormick. Mr. Young is a native of Troy, South Carolina, the son of Mr. J. A. Young and the late Mrs. Lula Creswell Young of Troy. He is now holding a position with Long Motor Lines Inc., Greenwood, S. C.
