Tal bert spent Tuesday in Greenville with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. C. Curdts. Mrs. Talbert remained for a visit of several days with Mrs. Curdts. x Gra ves-W illiams Mr. and Mrs. William O. Graves have announced the marriage of | their foster daughter, Annie Sue j Willis Graves, to Henry Carswell | Williams on Friday evening, May 21st, 1937. The ceremony was per formed by the Rev. M. E. Derrick pastor of the McCormick Methodist church, at his home in the presence of a few close friends of the young couple. I 'pie bride wore for her wedding a flowered chiffon dress with har monizing accessories and her flow ers were a shoulder corsage of pink rosebuds and sweet peas. Mrs. Williams is a daughter of the late J. W. Willis and Bertha Quarles Willis and has made her home here with Mr. and Mrs. Graves for a number of years. She is a graduate of the McCormick high school and for some time has been connected with one of the governmental agencies here. • Mr. Williams is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. B. Williams of Green wood. He is a graduate of the Greenwood high school and is con nected with a wholesale candy company with headquarters in Spartanburg where he and Mrs. Williams will reside following a short wedding trip. While attending Queens-Cfhicora College in Charlotte Miss Shockley was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi, a social sorority, and the Beta Pi Theta, honorary French fra ternity. After her graduation she taught in the high school of Sa luda several years. For the past ses sion she has been teacher of French in the McCormick high school. During Miss Shockley’s stay in McCormick she has been popular with all ages and has made many friends who regret that her ap proaching marriage will take her away from McCormick to live. xx Bride-Elect Honored One of the most delightful social affairs given in McCormick this sea son was Monday afternoon When Misses Mary Miller Moss, Winona Welsh and Marian Collins enter tained for Miss Fredna Shockley, bride-elect of June. The home of Mrs. J. S. Strom, where the affair was given, was unusually attractive with a pro fusion of cut flowers and ferns. Upon arrival, a dainty miniature bride’s bouquet was pinned on each guest. Attached to these, were cards announcing the date of Miss ! Shockley’s approaching marriage. ! A round of enthusiastic games and j contests followed. The honoree wa v the recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts. The hostesses served a delicious sweet course.
