Gaylor-Langley
From Greenville Daily News,
Greenville, N. C., May 9.
The marriage of Miss Carolyn
Louise Langley and Walter Hayes
Gaylor v/as solemnized in a pretty
and impressive ceremony Friday at
six o’clock at the' home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. C. Page on Columbia avenue
in the presence of a few close
friends.
The home was beautifully deco
rated in sweet peas and snap
dragons in pastel shade. In the
; living room a color scheme of white
and green predominated. Arrange
ments of Easter lilies, white snap
dragons and cathedral candelabra
were used against a background
of palms and ferns to form an im
provised altar.
The program of appropriate mu-
■ sic was rendered by Miss Sara
( Brown Braxton, pianist, and Mrs.
Clifford Bostic, soloist. It included
“Liebstraum” by Liszt; “At Dawn
ing” by Cadman; “The Hand of
You” by Baud. The bridal party
entered to the strains of ‘’'Lohen
grin” wedding march. During the
ceremony “To A Wild Rose” was
softly played.
Miss Frances Langley, sister of
the bride, gowned in powder blue
silk lace with shoulder corsage of
pink roses, attended her sister as
maid of honor.
The bride entered with her
brother, Archie Langley, by whom
she was given in marriage. They
were met at the altar by the bride
groom and his brother, Herman
Gaylor, who acted as best man.
The vows were spoken before Rev.
W. A. Ryan, pastor of Eighth
Street Christian Church.
Mrs. Gaylor was lovely in a beau
tiful white Duchess satin gown fash
ioned along princess lines. It was
caught at the neck by a diamond
brooch, her only ornament, an
heirloom of the family. The veil
of illusion was worn coronet style
with a band of orange blossoms.
She carried an arm bouquet ol
bridal roses showered with valley
lilies and tied with ribbon of bro
caded satin.
The bride is the attractive and
popular daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene Lee Langley, Plum Branch,
S. C. She received her A.B. degree
from Winthrop College and for the
past several years has taught in
the schools of Clover, S. C., and
Winterville, N. C.
Mr. Gaylor, son of Mrs. J. W. Gay
lor and the late Mr. Gaylor, has a
wide circle of friends in the state.
He is connected with Lance Pack
ing Co., in Alexandria, Va.
Immediately following the wed
ding Mr. and Airs. Page entertain
ed the wedding party, relatives, out
of town guests and a few close
fiiends at a reception. The bride’s
book was presided over by Miss
Mary Alice Beaman. Ice cream and
decorated cakes were served by
Alisses Wyiette Culbreath, Alildred
Stroud and Airs. D. H. Conley.
Out of town guests were: Mr.
and Mrs. J. L. Freeland, Mr. and
Mrs. James Gibert, McCormick, S.
C.; Archie Langley, Abbeville, S.
C.; Miss Frances Langley, Plum
Branch, S. C.; Miss Mary Alice
Beaman, Air. and Mrs. Clifford
Eostic, Farmviile; Aliss Sara Brown
Braxton, Miss Alice Graves Hun-
sucker, Miss Faye Gaskins and
Heyward McLawhorn, Winterville;
Miss Alildred Stroud, Kinston;
Miss Wyiette Culbreath, Johnston,
S. C.
Airs. Gaylor chose for her going
away costume a dress with bolem
made of DuPont romaine in navy
blue, with blouse of embroidered
starched chiffon. She wore a shoul
der corsage of red roses.
After a wedding trip Mr. and
Mrs. Gaylor will be at home at 333
Clifford avenue, Alexandria, Va.
