Beautiful in its simplicity was the
v/edding of Miss Irene Britt and
Thomas R. McKelvey which was
solemnized at the home of the
bride’s mother on Abbeville Road,
McCormick, on Saturday morning,
March 27th, in the presence of the
Immediate families and a few close
friends.
A program of pre-nuptial music
was furnished by Miss Eloise Britt,
pianist, with Mrs. A. Thad Persons
singing Herbert’s “Ah, Sweet Mys
tery of Life”.
There were no attendants and
the bride and groom entered to
gether to the strains of “The Bri
dal Chorus” from Lohengrin, and
took their places before an impro
vised altar of floor baskets of Eas
ter lilies, white iris and ferns in
terspersed with lighted cathedral
candles in floor candelabra against
a background of white, where the
impressive ring ceremony was per
formed by the Rev. A. Thad Per
sons, pastor of the McCormick
Baptist church.
The bride wore for her wedding
a spring model in a gray wool with
green accessories and her flowers
were a shoulder corsage of pink
rosebuds, valley lilies and fern.
' Mrs. McKelvey is a daughter of
Mrs. Thomas Jacob Britt of Mc
Cormick and the late Mr. Britt and
is prominently connected through
out this section. She is a graduate
of Greenville Woman’s College,
Greenville, and has for several
years has been a member of the
faculty of the school at Moncks
Corner.
Mr. McKelvey, a member of a
j family long prominent in the lower
part of South Carolina, is associat
ed in business with the A. C. Jones
Lumber Company of Moncks Cor
ner. Following a short wedding trip
Mr. and Mrs. McKelvey will reside
in Moncks Corner.
After the wedding ceremony a
wedding breakfast was served by
Mrs. Britt and assisting in serving
were her daughters, Mrs. Paul R.
Brown, Mrs. Porter C. Dorn, Jr.,
Mrs. T. Leonard Britt and Mrs.
Wilton-E. Britt.
Out of town guests included Miss

brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Wilton E. Britt entertained at
an informal dinner party for the
house guests from out of town who
were here for the wedding. During
the evening the bride’s cake was

Marie Stone to Mr. Alfred Caridon
Farmer which was solemnized Sat
urday, March 27th, at the home of
the bride’s parents in Clinton, S.
C., with her pastor officiating. On
ly close friends cf the couple and
a few relatives attended the cere
mony.
Mrs. Farmer is the youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M.
Stone, formerly of Modoc, S. C.
Her brunette beauty was enhanced
by a modish suit of blue wool with
accessories to match.
Mr. Farmer is a prominent young
business man of Clinton where they
will make their home.
