wood, where she was a member of
the Senior class this year.
Her many personal charms had
endeared her to a wide circle of

Mr. Bracknell is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. J.rlev:Bracknell of Plum
Branch. After graduation from the
McCormick High School he studied
at Clemson College. At present he
is engaged in a large mercantile
business with his father at Plum
Branch where the happy young
couple will make their home.

Mrs. Anna Goodin Dumas was
born in Knoxville, Crawford Coun
ty Georgia, October 14, 1859. In
early childhood she moved with
her parents to Spalding county,
where she resided until her mar
riage to Mr. Newton Trimble Dumas
in 1880.
Since her marriage she lived in
Redbone District until her death.
October 20, 1936. Mr. Dumas died
December 22, 1922.
In the passing of Mrs. Dumas,
the community has lost one of its
most beloved citizens.
Mrs. Dumas, better known as
“Miss Anna”, was a wonderful wife,
mother and home-maker. Her price
was far above rubies, and her chil
dren rise up and call her blessed.
She was a good neighbor, ever
ready to minister to the sick and
needy and with her husband, ready
to lend a hand in the advancement
of her community. She loved her
home over which she presided so
gracefully, and her home was not
ed for its hospitality. She was a
loyal and faithful member of
Ramah Primitive Baptist church,
regular in attendance unto the
end.
For a number of years, she was
in declining he&Uh and suffered
greatly. The tender care and de
votion of her sons and daughters
was touching and beautiful.
She has fallen asleep. We miss
her and feel our loss keenly, but
we know she is at rest; free from
suffering and with her Lord and
loved ones who have gone on be
fore.

Is Making Loans
Columbia, S. C., Oct. 29.—A total
of 230 loans and other authoriza
tions to 140 borrowers, aggregating
$35,631,525.24, had been paid by
the Reconstruction Finance Cor
poration in South Carolina through
June 30, 1936, according to informa
tion furnished to Lawrence M.
Pinckney, State Director for the
National Emergency Council, today.
Of the above figure, $3,799,781,-
90 was withdrawn or cancelled and
$29,876,440.45 was disbursed.
To meet South Carolina’s bank
ing needs, a total of $12,865,230.99
was disbursed to open banks; $5,-
823,177.62 was disbursed to aid in
the reorganization or liquidation of
closed banks, chiefly for distribu
tion to depositors; and $2,771,800
was invested in preferred stock or
debentures of thirty-five South
Carolina banks.
Loans disbursed to other finan
cial institutions in South Carolina
by the Reconstruction Finance Cor
poration, include $1,518,820.48 to
building and loan associations, and
$504,000 to insurance companies.
The total of direct loans disburs
ed by the RFC to industrial or
commercial businesses in South
Carolina was $527,176.97.
In South Carolina a total of
$149,500 has been loaned by the
RFC on self-liquidating projects,
such as water systems, toll bridges,
sewer systems, etc.
