Carmel Home Demon stration Club entertained with a party at the community building last Tuesday evening. A nice little crowd gathered and enjoyed the games, etc. Mrs. Clara Majette en tertained the crowd with a humor ous reading “Samantha Ann,” which was very much enjoyed. De licious punch and sandwiches were served by the club. It was the club’s annual recreational meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hester and children, Carolyn and Jim Pat, and Alex Mitchell, Jr., of Mt Pleas ant spent a pleasant day in the mountains of N. C. last Sabbath. Mr. Willie Hester visited his sis ter, Mrs. Alex ,. Mitchell, of Mt Pleasant, recently, and Alex, Jr., returned home with him. Mrs. Charles Fant and children, Dorothy and Reese, of Anderson, were* pleasant visitors of Mrs. Johft D. Cade and Miss Julia Cade Wed nesday afternoon. Mrs. J. T. McCrorey of Rock Hill and her father, Mr. J. F. Suther land, of Anderson, were Mt. Car mel visitors Monday and Monday night. Mr. and Mvs. John D. Carmel a short time Monday morn ing en route to Clemson College for the week. Mrs. Ida M. Black visited Mrs. D. L. Bryson in Calhoun Falls the past week end and also visited An derson. Mr. and Mrs. John Birchmore and their two very charming daughters, Charlotte and Mary, also Mrs. Estes of Anderson were guests in the home of Mrs. John D. Cade last Sabbath. Charlotte Birchmore- was a former art student of Miss Julia Cade’s at Anderson College. Mr. and Mrs. John McCoy and attractive daughters, Georgia and Virginia, Mrs. Ford Patterson and Mrs. William Bell of Anderson were visitors of Mrs. Myrtle Mauldin Tuesday. Later in the afternoon j Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robinson and Mr. Ford Patterson came to Mt. I Carmel to attend the burial of the little baby of Mrs. W. T. Mauldin. The County Treasurer’s Office will be open for the purpose of re ceiving taxes from the 15th day cf September, 1936, to the 15th day of March, 1937.
