Y7e do not grow weary of the
Lord’s Prayer. Almost every ser
vice of worship finds a place for it.
On no occasion is it inappropriate.
And always it serves as a central
act, a climax toward which ail
else points.
Note that it is a splendid state
ment of belief, plainly indicating
What Jesus taught. The Lord’s
Prayer is the very heart of the gos
pel. Some one has well said that it
can be committed to memory in a
lew minutes, but that it is the work
c* a lifetime to learn it by heart
Then, too, the Lord’s Prayer is
• a letter, a loving message sent by
fche devout believer to the throne
of heavenly grace. As an old com
mentator quaintly says, “Here is
tfl* person to whom it is directed,
*Owr Father;' the place ‘in heaven;'
khe contents of it, in several er-
nmds of request; the close ‘for
Chine is the kingdom;’ the seal,
*Amen;’ and if you will, the date,
.too, “this day.” It is a brief mis-
a*ue, hut this brevity is a merit.

assurance. Such love is expressed

book. So it is with prayer., ^psus

off liberty. Profoundly social in
character, it is a petition/of the

on the agricultural outlook for 1936

such as milk, cheese, dried peas or
beans, how to choose and cook
meat.
The social hour was enjoyed im
mensely. Mrs. Hoffman served a
delicious salad course with hot
coffee.

Warner Gland’s “Charlie Chan
in Shanghai,” which shows next
Wednesday and Thursday at the
Hollywood Theatre, is the rare ex
ception, however, with two young
natives of the sunshine state cast
in the leading romantic roles.
They are Irene Harvey, who was
bom in Los Angeles, and Charles
Locher, a native of Fresno, Cal.
“Charlie Chan in Shanghai”
marks the first important featured
role for these young players who
assist Warner Gland in tracking
down a desperate gang of dope
smugglers.

Murray, who met such wide favor
as a light romantic team in their
first Paramount picture, “The Gild
ed Lily”, are brought together again
in the new comedy-romance, “The
Bride Comes Home”, which shows
on Monday and Tuesday at the
Hollywood Theatre.
“The bride Comes Home” is an
original story written especially for
Miss Colbert by Claude Binyon, and
though it resembles “The Gilded
Lily” in that it treats of the prob
lems confronting young lovers of
today, its originality makes it one
of the most amusing screen farces
of the rear.
