Metz, registrar, every South Carolina county is represented in the 1389 South Carolina students enrolled at Clemson. Anderson, Greenville and Spar tanburg counties are the three big contributors while Oconee, the county in which the college is lo cated, ranks seventh. Chevrolet Millionth Car Of Year Built DETROIT, Mich., Dec. 11.—De cember will go down in the records as marking two important achieve ments by the Chevrolet Motor Com pany—the production of its 11,- 000,COOth car since the founding of the company, and of the 1,000,- 000th car to be built in the calen dar year of 1935. Chevrolet’s 11,000,000th car roll ed off the line at its Flint plant December 4, one of nearly 6,000 cars built that day at the com pany’s ten assembly plants in the United States. The millionth car «f 1935 was produced on December 12, and the current year 1935 will thus go down in Chevrolet’s records as its fourth millon-car year, the others having been 1927, 1928 and 1929. The production of the 11,000,- 000th Chevrolet was advanced con siderably by the high volume pro duction made necessary by cur rent demand for the, new 1936 models, No. 10,000,000 having been built late in 1934. The change in automobile announcement time from January to November is cred ited by W. E. Holler, vice president &nd general sales manager, with the company’s record breaking sales and production in November. “The situation this year,” said Mr. Holler, “is in sharp contrast with that which has been the rule In years past. Instead of slowing down in preparation for the intro duction of new models, our plants are operating at full capacity or more than 100,000 units a month. “Continuation of heavy output schedules throughout December will be required to keep pace with orders which dealers all over the country are reporting. This means that, instead of awaiting the sum mons to return to their jobs, as they are usually doing at this time of the year, the army of Chevrolet workers in 24 widely scattered fac tories and assembly plants is al ready back on the job. “It means, too, that uncounted thousands in other fields of activ ity whose welfare is bound up di rectly cr indirectly with that of the automotive industry, find their economic situation better today than at this period in any other re cent year.” Sketching Chevrolet’s progress as a Ihrge volume producer, Mr. Holler stated that 11 years were required to produce the first millon Chevro- lets, and only 13 years for the sub sequent 10,000,000. (AdvJ A Mint Sauce That Is Different -IXI- Chevrolet December Sales Setting Records DETROIT, Mich,, Dec. 19.—Rec ords for sales of both new cars and used cars in the first 10 days of De cember were broken by Chevrolet dealers In the United States, it was stated here today by H B. Hatch assistant general sales manager of Chevrolet Motor Co., in. charge of the eastern half of the , United States. Sales of new units total led 24,122, more than double the sales for the same period last year, and a new all-time record for the opening period of December. Used car sales in the same period ex ceeded 35,000, setting a new record for any 10 days in December in the history of the company. The record-breaking sales of used cars is credited by the companv to Chevrolet’s factory-backed ad- Lamb and mint sauce have been served together for many, many years—so long, in fact, that some times there is a desire for some thing different. Inez S. Willson, home economist, suggests for such occasions a variation of the usual mint sauce, a pineapple and mint mixture. It is excellent with a lamb roast. Roast Leg of Lamb With Pine apple Mint Sauce. Leg of lamb, Salt and pepper 1-2 cup pineapple syrup 1 tablespoon vinegar 1-4 cup chopped mint leaves or a few drops of mint flavoring. Roast the leg of lamb as usual; that is, season it with salt and pepper, place it cut side up on a rack in an open roasting pan, and allow it to bake at a temperature; of 300 degrees Fahrenheit until it s done. It requires thirty to thir- y-five minutes per pound for roasting. An hour or more before , .crying, combine the pineapple ;yrup, vinegar, mint leaves, and about 1-4 teaspoon salt.
