Need Similar Diet
Research Reveals. That So-Called
Impurities In Fertilizers Are As
• Important As Vitamins In
Human Food
Close similarity between the food
requirements of children and the
food requirements of plants—cot-,
ton and corn for example—is being
pointed out in a new series of in
teresting advertisements specially
• prepared for this newspaper by the
Chilean Nitrate Educational Bu
reau.
And these advertisements, agri
cultural scientists agree, are right
in line with the most advanced re
search and knowledge, for they are
based primarily upon the vital im
purities or rare elements which, be
cause of its natural origin, Chilean
Rlmle of Soda contains.
Recent study has revealed- that
these Impurities In plant diet are
as important as the vitamins in
the diet of human beings. The im
purities give health and growth to

the soil—even one of them—growth

ed, death of the plant often re
sults. Just as Vitamin A in chil
dren's food protects against infec
tion and "catching” diseases, so
the impurities—rare elements such
'as iodine, boron, magnesium,
strontium; calcium, lithium, sodi
um, etc., protect plants against dis
eases and give them the health
that produces robust growth and
fine yield.
These impurities in Chilean Nat
ural Nitrate are Nature-given.
Therefore, they are present in this
nitrate in Nature’s own balance and
proportion. As soil scientists study
this subject it becomes increasing-
A CHILD’S LAXATIVE
SHOULD BE UQUID
(Ask any doctor)
For your own comfort, and for your
children’s safety and future welfare,
you should read this:
The bowels cannot be helped to
regularity by any laxative that can’t
be regulated as to dose. That is why
doctors use liquid laxatives.
A liquid laxative can always be
taken in the right amount. You can
gradually reduce the dose. Reduced
dosage is the secret of real and safe
relief from constipation.
The right liquid laxative dose gives
the right amount of help. When
repeated, instead of more each time,
you take less. Until bowels are mov
ing regularly and thoroughly without
cmy help at all.
The liquid laxative generally used
is Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin. It
contains senna and cascara, natural
laxatives that form no habit — even
in children. Its action is gentle, but
sure. It will rl<si>r up a condition of
biliousness or sluggishness without
upset. Every druggist has it.

The Car Without Experiments
There’s never any doubt about value when
you buy a Ford car. You know it’s all right
or Henry JFord wouldn’t put it out.. One thing
tjbat never changes is his policy of dependable
transportation at low cost.
That’s the biggest feature of the New Ford.
The reliability and economy of its V-8 engine
haye been proved on the road by upwards of
1,400,000 motorists. Owner cost records show
definitely that the Ford V-8 is the most
economical Ford car ever built.

Feter Heals a Lame Man
Lesson for February 24th.
Acts 3:1-10.
Golden Text: Acts 3:6.
There Is something very appeal
ing about "the Beautiful Gate of
the Temple” where the cripple of
our lesson begged for alms. It is a
symbol of the highly,important fact
that one of the surest paths to God
is beauty. To be sure, there are
other equally significant avenues to
the divine life. There is, for ex
ample, the highway of truth. There
is also that exacting course we call
righteousness. v
But the approach to God through
beauty must not be ignored.- Con

The lame beggar, too, is sugges
tive. He represents the sickness,
the frustration, the poverty of
which the world is so full. Despite
all that organized science and
philanthropy have done to mitigate
the hard lot of humanity, it still
remains true that this world is "a
vale of tears*’ for. many handicap
ped lives. And how* that we are in
the grip of severe depression the
sufferings of men have assumed
fresh vitality.
