Dtznja, Abbeville Press and Banner, Jan uary 17. Relatives of Connor Hanvey, native and former resident of Ab beville, were advised last night of his death in Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Hanvey had been in ill health for several months but returned to his work two weeks ago. He suc cumbed to a sudden heart attack at 8:15 last night. Funeral services will be con ducted at Portsmouth Friday af ternoon from Court Street Bap tist church, of which he was a member. Interment Will be in Portsmouth. Mr. Hanvey was a native of Abbeville County, the son of the late Mary Isabel McComb and George Alexander Hanvey. At the time of his death he was in his 53rd year, having been born October 15, 1882. He married Miss Mamie Curling of Portsmouth and has made his home there for the past 25 years. He was employed in the car lighting department of the Seaboard Railway. Mr. Hanvey began his railroad career in Abbe ville as a fireman, later going to the Navy Yard at Portsmouth and returning to the Seaboard many years ago. Great Athlete Wherever Clemson men gather the name of “Little Jock” Hanvey one of the greatest all time full backs of the Clemson Tigers is brought into the conversation. He was a member of the great Clem- soh teams of 1902 and 1903 and even today the stories of his great work on the team is recalled and passed down "to each succeeding te4m at the College. Mr. Hanvey latter played with the University of ^Florida and the Virginia Poly- te<rhnic Institute. At these insti tutions he maintained his great reputation. Besides his widow he is surviv ed by one daughter, Miss Miriam Hanvey, and the following broth er^, and sisters: Col. George A.
