Moragne of Augusta was 'a. business visitor here Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jennings and children returned Friday from a week’s visit in Chattanooga, Tenn. The many friends of Mrs. Addie Cothran will be glad to learn that her condition is greatly improved. Her sons, Mr. Thos. J. Cothran of Goldsboro, N. C., and Mr. Ralph Cothran of Union Mills, N. C., who were called to her bedside ten days ago, have returned with their fam ilies, to their respective homes. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Gilbert and baby, Mary Frances, and Mrs. Q. S. Gilbert of Pendergrass, Ga., are visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Charles Talbert of Sand- over. Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Faulkner of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Dukes and two sons from North Augusta spent Sunday here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. # J. A. Jordan of Clover spent the week end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hamlin. Miss Eula Caudle, student of Lander College, Greenwood, spent Sunday here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Caudle. Mrs. W. C. Strom is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lee Strom in Anniston, Ala. Mrs. Lee Strom, who has been ill, is greatly improved now. Messrs. Joe P. Holloway, J. L. Jennings and Bryan Jennings were visitors to Augusta and Harlem, Ga., one day the past week. Messrs. J. S. Strom, W. M. Strom, W. N. Smith, Ernest Wood, E. P. Winn, T. L. Edmunds, J. O. Patter son and Dr. Garnett Tuten return ed Tuesday from Bluffton where they spent several days fishing. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Sibert and Miss Ricker Pate of Sumter are visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Patter son. Miss Alma Faulkner, student of Lander College, Greenwood, spent Sunday here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Faulkner. Dr. C. K. Epting and Rev. E. F. Gettys attended a meeting of the board of trustees of De la Howe State School in Greenville Tuesday. Mr. S. H. Local Legion Post Re-elects Commander And Adjutant Births At the October meeting of tha Thomas J. Lyon, Jr., Post of the American Legion in the Legion Hall here, C. R. Strom was re elected commander and J. Frank Mattison was re-elected adjutant. Other business attended to were plans for the annual Armistice Banquet to be held at the commu nity house here November 8th. The ladies of the local auxiliary will serve the banquet. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mercer an nounce the birth of a nine pound girl on October the ninth. She has been named Katherine Louise. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Jaynes an nounce the birth of a daughter, Barbara Anri, on October the 10th. Mr. and Mrs. A. Horace Faulkner announce the birth of a daughter on Friday, October 12th. S. STROM Main Street McCormick, S. C. American Legion delegates from Chicago to the national convention at Miami, Fla., October 22-25, will make the trip in a motorcade of 75 new Chevrolets. Five trucks will follow the caravan carrying bag gage and band instruments. The Chevrolet Motor Company has donated this huge fleet, with blue bodies and gold wheels, the Legion colors, and the sides of each car will bear the insignia of the veterans’ organization. On arrival at Miami, the cars will be used as “Official Courtesy” cars to take care of the Legion’s distinguished guests who will attend the conven tion. The Chicago Legionnaires, 350 in all, will be accompanied by the Chipilly Post drum and bugle corps. At Miami they will com pete with the drum and bugle corps from other Legion posts for na tional honors. . On the way, this Chevrolet mo- ! torcade will bring a touch of the | national convention to scores of cities and towns. At many points local posts are arranging cere monies of entertainment for the Chicago delegates. The return trip to Chicago will Include visits i to important points along the At lantic seaboard.
