Mrs. G. A. Simpson and two chil dren have returned from a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Z. C. Craddock, of North Augusta. Miss Virginia Strom left last Thursday for a visit to her sister, Mrs. William Eugene Allen, of Washington, D. C. Miss Carrie Sue Talbert and her friend. Miss Olive Satcher, of Co lumbia, spent several days here last week with the former’s mother, Mrs. Georgia Talbert. Mrs. W. W. Dowtin spent the past week in and near town with rela tives. Miss Doris Franklin ac companied her home to spend a number of days with her. Miss Marjorie Jones of Columbia is here on a visit to Miss Elizabeth Talbert. Hall-Langley Coming as a surprise to their many friends was the marriage on Saturday evening, July 21st, of Miss Thelma Elise Hall of Abbeville and Mr. Leon E. Langley of Plum Branch, which was solemnized at the Methodist parsonage in Plum Branch with the groom’s pastor. Rev. C. Wilbur Brockwell, officiat ing, in the presence of a few near relatives and close friends. The bride, a petite blonde, was becomingly dressed in a green crepe ensemble with white acces- programs. She has been at The Citadel since the first of June, and has taken charge of each encamp ment. The home agents from each county had charge of their respective groups and assisted Miss Harper with all plans and pro grams. As the campers arrived in Char leston. they were virtually accepted as guests of the Charleston Cham ber of Commerce. Mr. C. C. Mar tin, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, personally planned and conducted tours to points of inter est in the city for each day of camp. These tours were escorted by motorcycle patrolmen and Mr. Martin was at all times, always, everywhere, first lining up the tours, assisting with traffic, giving talks on points of interest, gaining access to places which oniy Mr. Marlin could, and giving everyone from the oldest to the youngest the protection, care and consideration accorded a guest of the city. The tour included visits to the Museum, Gibbs Art Gallery. St. Michael, St. Phillips and the Huguenot Church, the City Dairy, the office of the News and Courier, the Municipal Pool, wfrere all who cared to, went in bathing free of charge, Hampton Park, where were shown among many interesting animals, twin baby deer and a four-day-old monkey, a boat ride to Fort Sumter, a trip to Fort Moultrie and the Isle of Palms, where several hours were spent on the beach, a picture show at great ly reduced prices, a visit to Kress’ 10-cent store, the roof gardens of the Francis Marion Hotel and a ride over the Cooper River Bride.
