McCormick High School Juniors Honor Senior Class With Banquet One of the loveliest affairs of the spring season was the banquet given last Thursday evening at which the Junior class of the Mc Cormick high school graciously en tertained the members of the Sen ior class in the community house. Girls from the Junior class greet ed the guests, who besides the members of the Senior class includ ed the members of the faculty, their wives and escorts and the trustees and their wives. I The main room of the community house was decorated to carry out a rainbow effect. The ceiling was festooned with vari-colored stream- j ers and floor baskets of pastel tint- i ed spring flowers were arranged a-! round the room. Three large tables for the faculty members and trus-J tees were lovely with lace covers; and lighted candles in branched sil-1 ver candalabra and vases of sweet peas and rose buds. jJ.Twenty-five smaller tables seating .two couples each were arranged for the mem- j Mr. H. K. Faust spent the week end with relatives in Williston.' Mr: R. L. Faulkner was a' business visitor In Atlanta one day the past week. Prof, and Mrs. E. A. The principal speaker of the evening was the Rev. David W. Heller, pas tor of the McCormick Methodist Church. A delightful musical program was rendered by Mrs. J. W. Furqueron and Emory Bentley. Mrs. W. E. Allen of Washington, D. C., is here on a visit to her par ents, Sheriff and Mrs. W. T. Strom. Miss Annie Lou Morgan of Plum Branch underwent an operation at Hie Greenwood Hospital Monday. She Is getting along Very nicely. • Miss Minnie Lee Talbert of Edge- field spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Talbert, of the Bethany section. Mr. H. W. Bailey of Modoc was a business visitor here one day the past week. Mrs. C. H. Huguley has returned from a week’s visit to relatives in Greenville. Mr. J. M. Bussey of Parksville was a business visitor here one day the past week. Mrs. W. T. Strom underwent- an operation at the Greenwood Hospi tal yesterday. She is getting along very nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. C. Curdts Greenville spent Sunday here the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Huguley. Prom Party For De la Howe School Juniors and Seniors Mr. E. H. Huguley of Greenville spent Sunday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Huguley. Mr. and Mrs. Luther W. Drennan of Pinewood and Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. Aford, Jr., and baby daughter of Milledgeville, Ga., were here last week seeing their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Drennan. Friends of Mrs. J. C. Drennan will regret to learn that she is seriously ill in the Greenwood Hospital. Rev. J. H. Manley, Mrs. Scott Mc Lain, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Drennan and children of Easley were here on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Dren-' nan last week. The many friends of Miss Nettie Thelma Bussey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Bussey of Modoc, who is in training for a nurse at the James Walker Memorial Hospi tal in Wilmington, N. C., will be very glad to learn that she is re cuperating nicely from an opera tion for appendicitis on May 41th. Miss Bussey has done splendid work in both practical and class vyork since her admipion to this training school and she has many friends here also who are wishing her the speediest of recovery. Miss Margaret Hemminger of Willington delightfully entertained th£^Junior-Senior classes of De la Howe at her home Friday evening. May 18th, from 3 till 11. As the guests assembled names were drawn for a lively contest which was greatly enjoyed. Prom cards were then given. After en joying a number of proms the guests were invited into the living- room v/hich was beautifully deco rated with roses and sweet peas, ef fecting the color motif of pink and white. Here they enjoyed another interesting contest. Following the contest the guests were /directed to the dining-room where the color motif of pink and white was carried out in delicious refreshments of ice cream and cake. . Punch was served throughout the evening from an attractive nook on the pofeh. Pink and white hand-painted favors were presented each guest. Mr. Gettys brought the following Juniors and Seniors to enjoy this lovely affair. Lois Barnwell, Nellie Johnston, Mildred Turner, Waddell Brabham, Edith Mae Winn, Martha McKain, Nora Beaufort, Ida Mae Hill, Ruth Duke, Harriett Miller, Alba Turner, Minnie Lee Winn, An nie Belle Williams, Estelle Hill, J. Hugh Mundy, James Wilson and Dennis Meeks.
