Happy New Year to editor and

The Yuletide was like life—some
sunshine, shadows and rain.
Christmas to some was Very happy,
to others sad. Each heart should be
thankful. May the New Ytear bring
to all happiness and ; prosperity,
more contentment, but a*‘satisfied
mind is not the best for us. Were

canning program. Miss Alice Tal
bert, emergency worker, will assist

TWo new steam-pressure cookers
and an automatic sealer have been
purchased by the County Emergen
cy Relief Administration for this
work. The person who wishes to
have meat canned by Mrs. Stall-r
worth and Miss Talbert may either
furnish his own cans or secure cans
from the County Emergency Relief
Administrator. Should the cans be
secured by latter method, a toll of
one can for every four cans will be
exacted. This toll to be turned over
to the County Emergency Relief
Administrator for direct relief.
The canning will be done at the
home of the person having the
work done. Either pork or beef may
be canned.
Please notify Mrs. Stallworth be
fore the animals are butchered, so
there will be no conflict in dates.

Dies At Beaufort

The two tracts of land offered
by J. T. Fooshe, tax collector, were
bid in by the county.

G. Miller Sibert, native of Troy,
died suddenly while attending a
friend’s funeral at Beaufort Tues
day afternoon. He apparently was
in the best of health when he en
tered the church to attend services
for Mrs. J. B. Kinghom. He
slumped in his pew when the ser
vices were. about half over, and
died of a heart attack.
Mr. Sibert was about 60 years of
age, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs
George Sibert, of Troy. For a num
ber of years he was in the drug
business at Sumter with his bro
ther, Will Sibert, and for some time
had been located at Beaufort.
He is survived by one son, George
Brown Sibert, of Sumter; five sis
ters, Mrs. A. Jjf. Rawls, of San An
tonio, Tex.; Mrs. J. Z. Sexton, of
Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. G. C. Patter
son, and Mrs. Leon Traylor, of Mc
Cormick, and Mrs. Sarah Holland,
of Ninety Six, and three brothers,
Will Sibert and John Sibert, of
Sumter, and T. Jeff Sibert, of Troy,
j Mr. Sibert’s wife was a daughter
!of the Rev. C. C. Brown, widely
known Baptist minister.
