Notice is hereby given that the GeneiAl Election for Presidential and Vice Presidential Electors, United States Senator and Repre- ^entatives in Congress will be held at the voting precincts fixed by law in the county of McCormick on Tuesday, November 8, 1932, said day being Tuesday following the first Monday, as prescribed by the State Constitution. The quainications for suffrage are as follows: Residence m State for two years, in the County one year, in the polling precinct in which the elec tor oilers to Vote, four months, and the payment of six months be fore any election of any pon tax then due and payable. Provided, That ministers in charge of an or ganized church and teachers of public schools shall be entitled to vote after six months’ residence in the State, otherwise qualified. Registration—Payment of poll tax during the previous year. The production of a certificate or the receipt of the officer authorized to collect such taxes shall be con clusive proof of the payment there of. Also Registration Certificate required. Before the hour fixed for open ing the polls Managers and Clerks must take and subscribe to the Constitutional oath. The Chair man of the Board of Managers can administer the oath to the other Managers and to the Clerk; a No tary Public must administer the oath to Chairman. The Managers elect their Chairman and Clerk. Polls at each voting place must be opened at 8 o’clock a. m. and closed at 4 o’clock p. m., except in the City of Charleston, where they shall be opened at 7 a. m. and closed at 6 p. m. and in the City of Columbia where the clos ing hours shall be 6 o’clock p. m. The Managers have the power to fill a vacancy; and if none of the Managers attend, the citizens can appoint, from among the qualified voters, the Managers, who, after being sworn, can conduct the elec tion. At the close of the election the Managers and Clerks must proceed publicly to open the ballot box and count the ballots therein, and con tinue without adjournment until the same is completed, and make a statement of the results for each office, and sign the same. Within three days thereafter the Chair man of The Board, or some one designated by the Board, must de liver to the Commissioners of Elec tion the poll list, the box contain ing the ballots and written state ments of the results of she elec tion. NOTICE OF ELECTION STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, County of McCormick. Notice is hereby given that th? General Election for State and County Officers will be held at \.he voting precincts prescribed by law in said county, on Tuesday, Novem ber 8, 1932, said day being Tuesday following the first Monday in No vember, as prescribed by the State Constitution. The qualification for suffrage: Managers of election shall require cf every elector offering to vote at any election, before allowing him to vote, proof of the payment thirty days before any election of any poll tax then due and payable. The production of a certificate or of the receipt of the officer authorized to collect such taxes shall be conclu sive proof of the payment thereof. The polls shall be opened, at such voting places as shall be des ignated, at 8 o’clock in the fore noon, and close at 4 o’clock in the afternoon of the day of election, except in the City of Charleston, where the polls shall open at 7 o’clock in the forenoon, and in the cities of Charleston and Columbia where the closing hours shall be 6 o’clock in the afternoon, and shall be held open during these hours without intermission or adjourn ment; and the Manager shall ad minister to each person offering to vote on oath that he is qualified to vote at this election, according to the Constitution of this State, and that he has not voted during this election. No. 5 GEORGETOWN COUNTY A JOINT RESOLUTION to Amend Section 7 of Article VIII, Section 5 of Article X and Section 13 of Article II of the Constitution Relating to the Bonded Indebted ness of Cities and Towns, by Add ing Thereto a Proviso as to the Bonded Indebtedness of the City of Georgetown. Treasurer’s Notice The Count} Treasurer’s Office will be open for the purpose of re ceiving taxes from the 1st day of October, 1932, to the 15th day of March, 1933. All taxes shall be due and pay able between the 1st day of Octo ber, 1932, and December 31, 1932. That when taxes charged shall not be paid by December 31, 1932, the County Auditor shall proceed to add a penalty of one per cent for January, and if taxes are not paid on or before February 1, 1933, the County Auditor will proceed to add Two Per Cent and % Five Per Cent from the 1st of March to the 15th of March, after which time unpaid taxes will be collected by the Tax Collector. Town Tax Notice AN ORDINANCE TO LEVY AN NUAL TAXES UPON THE TAX ABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE TOWN OF McCORMICK FOR THE PURPOSE OF MEETING CURRENT AND FISCAL EX- PENSE« AND TO PROVr*>E FOR THE PAYMENT OF INTEREST ON OUTSTANDING RONDS OF THE TOWN OF McCORMICK AND TO PROVIDE A SINKING FUND FOR THE RETIREMENT THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN O* 1 McCORMICK. McCORMICK COUNTY. SOUTH CAROLINA, IN REGULAR COUNCIL ASSEMB- LED * SECTION 1. That a tax levy of Fourteen (14) Mills on every dol lar’s worth of property, real and personal, not exempt by law from taxation, situate and within the corporate limits of the Town of Mc Cormick, be and the same is hereby levied for current expenses and to defray public expenses of the Town of McCormick for the fiscal year ending October 31st, 1932, and to meet current indebtedness con tracted by said Town for general corporate purposes. SECTION 2. That over and above and in addition to the levy of Fourteen (14) Mills as hereinabove provided in section one of this ord inance, a levy of Six (6) Mills is I hereby made upon every dollar’s j worth of property, real and person al, not exempt by law from taxa tion, situate and within the cor porate limits of the Town of Mc Cormick, and the same is hereby levied for the purpose of raising taxes to meet the interest accruing on Thirty Thousand ($30,000.00) Dollars Town of McCormick Bonds issued and sold for the purpose of aiding in the construction of pub lic buildings of the County of Mc Cormick. and to create a sinking fund to be used for the retirement and nayment of said bonds. SECTION 3. That over and above, and in addition to the above levy of Fourteen (14) Mills and Six (6) Mills, as hereinabove provided in sections one and two respective ly of this ordinance, a levy of Twenty-Five (25) Mills be and is hereby made on every dollar’s worth of property, real and per sonal, not exempt by law from tax ation, situate and within the cor porate limits of the Town of Mc Cormick, and the same is hereby levied for the purpose of raising taxes to meet the interest accruing on Twenty-Eight Thousand ($23,- 000.00) Dollars Electric Lighting Plant Bonds of the Town of Mc Cormick dated July 1st, 1925, and Fifty-Three Thousand ($53,000.00) Dollars Water Works System Bohds of the Town of McCormick dated July 1st, 1925, and Forty-Three Thousand ($43,000.00) Dollars Sew erage System Bonds of the Town of McCormick dated July 1st, 1925, and to create a sinking fund to be used in the retirement and pay ment of said bonds. SECTION 4. That the Clerk and Treasurer of the said Town shall enter said levies and assessments upon the books of the said Town of McCormick and receive said taxes, that the said taxes herein levied shall be paid to the said Clerk and Treasurer in lawful money of the United States at the office of the said C’erk and Treas urer between the Fifteenth day of October, 1932. and the First day of January, 1933. SECTION 5. That on all taxes and assessments, or any portion thereof, charged against any prop erty or party on the duplicate ior the fiscal current year and due the Town of McCormick, S. C., that shall not have been paid on or be fore the First Day of January, 1933, the Town Clerk and Treasur er shall proceed to add a penalty of Five (5) per cent on the dup licate, and the Town Clerk and Treasurer shall proceed to collect the same, and if the said taxes and oenalties and assessments shall not have been paid on or before the First Day of February, 1933, next, thereafter, an additional penalty of Two (2) per cent shall be added by the Town Clerk and Treasurer on the Town Duplicate and the same collected by said Clerk and Treas urer, and if the said taxes and as sessments are not paid, together with the penalties added thereon, on or before the fifteenth day of March, 1933, next, thereafter, the Town Clerk and Treasurer shall issue his tax executions for said taxes, assessments and penalties against the property of the de faulting taxpayer according to law. SECTION 6. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsist ent with the provisions of this ord inance be and the same are hereby repealed.
