Discussing prohibition, Mr. Blease said, “I’ve yet to hear a candidate say that the ten commandment^, should be abolished because one man broke one or all of them. I had hoped South Carolina had reached the point where the liquor question would not be dragged up. “The last time it went on record South Carolina voted overwhelm ingly for prohibition and until that- verdict is repealed by white men and women of my state I shall not change my vote.” He said lie fav ored a referendum, however. Mr. Ouzts outlined his political career as state senator and mem ber of the house, advocated strict governmental economy, denounced the tariff, and said “it is time our government is getting out of for eign affairs.” IXt Fewer Motorists Are Suspended COLUMBIA, June 18.—A decrease during the last two weeks in the number of motorists suspended in the state for driving while intoxi cated was shown today in the re port of the state highway depart ment. There were 54 suspensions as against 62 for the preceding two veeks period. Charleston and Spartanburg were among the cities having no sus- oensions during the last two weeks. Greenville topped the list with 10; Florence, Columbia and Beaufort lad three each; Marion, Ware Shoals and Greenwood, two each, and'the others were scattered over ,he state. Five white youths under 20 years of age were included in the list of those having the licenses suspend ed. The oldest person in the list wr ~ listed at 57 years old. Two of the drivers had their i>'-ases revoked for 120 days for second offense convictions. The ? ’ tensions for the others were 60- i::s for the first offense.
