Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Creighton and daughter from Winston-Salem, N. C., spent the week end here with Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Creighton and children. Mrs. Creighton and chil dren accompanied them back to Winston-Salem to spend several days there and at Charlotte. Mrs. Francis Oates and son, Rcnald, from Darlington are spend ing several days here with her mo ther, Mrs. Isabelle Bentley. Mr. Dacus McDonald has return ed to his home in Columbus, Ohio, after spending a week here with his father, Mr. J. W. McDonald. They, accompanied by Misses Lillie Mae, Mary Elizabeth and Margaret, and Master Wallace McDonald, visited relatives in Orangeburg, Summer ville and Charleston several lays. Mrs. R. D. Sylvester and daugh ter, Fay Walker, of Richlands, N. C., are here on a visit to Mrs. Syl vester’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Walker, Sr. Mrs. Georgia Talbert is spending several days in Double Branches, Ga., with her sister, Mrs. Julia Dunn. Mr. A. B. Barden of Columbia is here on a visit to his daughter, Mrs. N. G. Rankin. Mr. Rankin, who has been ill the past several days, is re ported better today. .Mr. and Mrs., Wyatt Jennings from Charlotte, ; N. C., spent the week end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Jennings. They were accompanied back to Char lotte by Mr. John Wesley Jennings who will be there several weeks. Mrs. Robert Humphries and son, Robert, Jr., from Atlanta, are visit ing here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Self. After spending about ten days here with his mother, Mrs. Isabelle Bentley, Mr. and Mrs. Rallie Bent ley and son, Billie, left Monday for Winston-Salem, N. C., where he holds a responsible position. Mr. W. O. Randall, of Columbia, general manager of the South Car olina Continental Telephone Com pany, and Mr. R. L. Knell, of Ab beville. district manager of district number one for the company, were here one day the past week on business. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Walker, Jr., are here to spend a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Mrs. Ashby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Walker of Mc Cormick, S. C. She was educated at Winthrop college, at Rock Hill, S. C. She is well known in the city, having been a member of the fac ulty of the city public school sys tem. Attorney Ashby is the son of the late Dr. T. B. Ashby and Mrs. Myrtle Ashby. He was educated at Staunton Military Academy* Staunton, x Va., and Wake Forest College, where he pursued his pro fessional studies. One of the city’s prominent young barristers, Mr. Ashby is prosecuting attorney in the Mount Airy recorder’s court. (The Newberry Observer) WHITMIRE, June 1.—The mar riage of Miss Bess Suber, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Z. H. Suber, and Henry C. Walker, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Walker, of McCormick, this morning at 10:30 o’clock was marked by ele gant simplicity. Throughout the wide halls and spacious rooms where the guests were received, were bowls and vases of garden flowers. The stately par lor kept to the bridal colors of white and green, .the altar before a luncheon ,in two courses, was served by a group of young girls, former classmates of the bride. In the dining' room a lovely pink and white color scheme was carried out, with pink candles burning in sil ver holders. The bride, who is a young woman of unusual charm, was married in a becoming ensemble of blue with blue accessories. She wore a shoul der corsage of bride roses and lilies of the valley. Mrs. Walker is a graduate of Winthrop college and for the past two years has been a member of the faculty of the Ridgeland schools. Mr. Walker receivd his degree from the University of South Carolina and he likewise is a mem- br of the Ridgeland faculty. Mr. and Mrs. Walker left in their car for a stay at Wrightsville beach, after which they will make their home at Ridgeland. The out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. H. C.
