The H. D. Club held its monthly
meeting in the home of Mrs. J. P.
Talbert, Tuesday afternoon. Al
though a very unlikely afternoon,
thirteen members and several visi
tors were present. We enjoyed a
very pleasant afternoon. Tree
identification was the subject, with
appropriate scriptures. Several
poems were read about trees. Then
sides were chosen as for a spelling
match, and each was asked to
identify branches of trees as in
spelling. Some were more apt
than others and a miss meant to
sit down. After the meeting de
licious watermelon was served in
the grove. The cut melons and
crowds standing around eating
made a pretty scene. September
meeting will be in the home of Mrs.
H. E. Freeland the third Tuesday in
September.
The friends of Mr. and Mrs. G.
S. Cartledge were glad to see them
on a flying trip through the com
munity Friday. They called sev
eral times in Parksville, and at
Mrs. Holley’s and Morgan’s Store.
They brought Mrs. Prince home.
She spent nearly three months
with them.
Glad to report Mrs. E. M. What
ley better, but sorry to say Mrs.
Alice Ouzts continues quite ill. Mr.
and Mrs. Dewy Talbert and family
are with the family at present. For
three days last week Mrs. Whatley
had all nine of her grandchildren
with her. Miss Lenora Whatley
is very faithful to her loved ones,
administers to their needs untir
ingly.
The friends of Mrs. L. E. White
will regret to know she continues
very ill at the University hospital.
Mrs. E. M. Morgan had as her
Sunday guests, Mr. and Mrs. W. P.
Johnson, Sr., and two daughters,
Mrs. Cole Berry and three sons.
Felder Berry returned home with
them, after spending about two
months with Raymond Morgan.
The colored people closed their
series of meetings at Mount Moriah
with 37 baptisms.
