Miss Ethel Killingsworth of Rock' Hill spent the week end here with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Killingsworth. R V G. Mrs. Alfred Burnside and. son trom Columbia and Mrs. Edwin Barron, Jr., and son from Rock Hill are here on a visit to their mother, Mrs. Georgia Talbert. Connor were week end visitors to relatives in York. The Anne Carter Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confeder acy met with Mrs. Killingsworth as hostess on last Thursday, June 1th. It is like the man who was thankful everyone was not alike; if so every one would have wanted his wife; and the oth er man said if all were like him no one would want her. So the edi tors kindly read and print all these letters, for they are tactful enough to know it takes news to make a newspaper. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Corley and a friend, Miss Tyler, of Green wood, visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Talbert Sunday, re turning by the way of Mcpprmick to call on Mr. Wrenn, a sick uncle of Mr. Corley. Glad to see Bennie Moultrie and also honored in the same school several years ago. Mrs. Kathryn Hughey is improv- ing* glad to say. Mr. W. A. Winn still suffers greatly with his eye. Miss Helen Gilchrist is attend ing the short course at Winthrop College this week. She* is a Wash ington 4-H Club girl. Mrs. Ethan White is at the short course from White Town club. Raymond Morgan enjoyed a call Saturday morning from little McCormick friends. A great part of the grain has been harvested in this section. The grain has been fine, and a great blessing. We have had several days of real summer, but for two days have had refreshing showers that have done lots of good. txt MILWAY NEWS The leaguers of this community attended an Epworth League busi ness and social meeting at Troy Methodist Church Friday night. New officers were elected for the following year. We are all going to try to make the new league year a very successful one. Miss Maude Dowtin has returned to her home here, after a success ful term at Winthrop College. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Walker and children called in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Edwards Friday night. Miss Mary Lou Williams of Mc Cormick spent the past week end with Miss Gladys Scott. Mrs. W. A. Scott, who has been quite ill for several days, is very much better now. Quite a nice little crowd attend ed the services conducted by Rev. Mr. Henry of McCormick at the A. R. P. Church in Mt. Carmel last Friday morning and evening and with their mother, Mrs. J. D. Cade. Capt. and Mrs. William Sharpe and Billy, cf Clemson, came down Sabbath afternoon. Capt. Sharpe left Monday for a R. O. T. Camp in Anniston, Ala., where he will spend some time, but Mrs. Sharpe and Billy will remain in Mt. Car mel until he returns. Miss Reba Wells of Anderson is taking a needed rest of a few days at her home here. * Mr. Herman Smith of Green ville and Mr. Barnard Smith of Charleston and Mrs. Edward Ham- mend and son cf Elberton were re cent visitors of Mrs. Mary Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith and Miss Ruby Smith of Greenviila spent Sabbath with Mrs. Cora Smith, who has just returned home from Brenau College at Gainesville, Ca., for the summer vacation. x Bethany H. D. Club Meets The Bethany H. D. Club met Tuesday afternon, June 2, and carried ou.t che following program: A poem—The Month of Roses— Carolyn Freeland. A playlet on Health. A reading—Dalhia’s Old and New —Mrs. E. H. Christian. A reading on Health—Mrs. R. H. Quarles. The minutes of the last meeting, were read and approved. Roll called and each member was. asked to answer with a new flower she had learned. Business. A suggestion was made by presi dent that the chairmen keep a Saturday morning, and a real nice record book of their work and at crowd was present on Sabbath morning. All enjoyed the most ex cellent sermons by both ministers. Mrs. Jones and Misses Betty Harrison and Lily Parker were Mt. Carmel visitors Sabbath afternoon. Mrs. Clara Majette and her charming young daughter, Miss Virginia, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fortson and family at their home near Lincolnton, Ga. Little Mae DuBose and brother, Jackie, spent the past week end with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Curtis. It will be good news to the many friends of Miss Sallie T. Cade to know tfeat she is rapidly con- valesclhg from a recent operation each meeting the members report to them. The recreation leader was asked to have a game planned for each meeting. The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. Stallworth, who gave us some interesting facts about flowers, but the special subject for the afternoon was the identifica tion of different flowers.
