Mr. W. A. Winn returned home
from hospital last Thursday. Many
friends have called to see him and
found him improving, but still
suffering nome.
Mrs. J. P. Talbert, Mrs. E. M.
Morgan and Miss A. L. Morgan
called to see Mrs. Hughey and Mrs.
L. E. White Friday afternoon. Mrs.
Hughey is quite ill, but Mrs. White
is somewhat better. Do not think
she will have to go to hospital now.
Mrs. Hughey’s sister, Mrs. Will
iamson, is visiting her. Her son
and wife drove through from
Charleston making trip and re
turned that light .
Mrs. E. M. Whatley and daugh
ters are constant visitors to Mrs.
Hughey and Mrs. White. They,
with the other close neighbors, are
a lot of help and comfort to them.
Harold Winn celebrated his
birthday Thursday afternoon, in
viting his little friends to enjoy
the afternoon with him. His mo
ther and sister had the home spick
1 and span for the occasion, dec
orated through with lovely spring
flowers that mostly grew in Mrs.
I Winn’s yard. The entertainment
was novel in overy way. One
game that was especially enterest-
ing was untangling a spider’s web.
At the end of the cord was a bag
of candy for each child and for the
first to reach the end was a special
prize. Delicious ice cream and
cake were served. Harold receiv
ed many little birthday gifts. The
afternoon passed cn swift wings.
Each child left for home, wishing
Harold’s birthday came more than
once a year.

Glad to report Mrs. Kate May-
son is improving and the others of
the family are also better.
Mr. J. P. Talbert and family
spent Sunday in McCormick with
Mr. J. E. Strom and family.
A few from here attended the
union meeting at Bold Springs
Sunday.
Mrs. Jenelle Winn is expecting
her two children, Minnie Lee and
Calvin, home for the summer from
De la Howe School. Minnie Lee is
making good there and expects to
enter training in the hospital there
soon. We hope for her a success
ful career there.
We have oeen having such good
rains. A shower Sunday night re
freshed things and settled the
dust.

NEWS ITEMS
It’s been quite awhile since we
have seen a letter from our com
munity, so we thought we would
send in a few dots.
Grain crops are right good
through here and cotton and com
crops are late, but grass crops
look well for the present time.
We had a most excellent sermon
at White Town fourth Sunday by
our pastor. Rev. C. A. Padgett. We
had a good attendance at our
Sabbath school Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Charles Shrine and Mr. and
Mrs. J. T. Whitten, Jr., and little
girl of Ware Shoals visited Mr. and
Mrs. George Shrine Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe White and
family visited Mr. and Mrs. W. S.
Clem Sunday last.
Mrs. M. C. Hughey is not im
proving at this writing. Mrs. L. E.
White is still ill.. We hope both
of them will soon be well.

We have had several ice cream
suppers in our community.
Mr. and Mrs. Tillman White and
baby visited Mr. and Mrs. Guy
Jennings Sunday night.
If this escapes the waste basket,
we will try our luck again.

J. E. Winn, is a picture not soon
forgotten. The native Yucca in
full bloom and some yellow flower
that looks very much like corepsis
makes a lovely scene.
