Minges. She attended School at East Carolina Teachers College and graduated in 1928, and taught school the following year at Lenoir-Rhyne. There is only one way for the bank to be reim- hursed and that is by lending the depositor’s funds. No hank is able to render, except at a loss, the many services the depositors have come to / expect as a mat ter of course unless there is maintained with the bank at all times a collected balance* la^jge enough to earn suficient to pay the cost of the services rendered. The customer with a large balance pays the bank for the necessary services he receives through the earnings the bank receives from lending his funds. The customer unable to maintain a balance which will of itself earn for the bank at least the cost of the services which hftn jn keeping his hooks, furnishing his chec)^ hdbks^ p^png his checks and protecting his signature, should reimburse the hank the cost it has been put to in handling his account. Believing that sound hanking practices require that each account should be self-sustaining. The Peoples Bank of McCormick has decided to initiate a ^. service , charge. ' Beginning January 1, 1931, this hank will make a minimum service charge of 50c per month on any / checking account which falls below $50.00 during any calendar month. The ahqve charge is not to apply where no checks are drawn on an account during the month, or in case a customer has during the same period of time a balance of not less than $300.00 in the savings de partment.
