sion sprays or dormant orchards.
Agricultural Engineering
Plan to keep the tractor busy
during the winter witlr belt jobs,
sawing wood, lumber, feed grind
ing, etc. Cut in cotton stalks and
other material on the land with a
disc harrow.
Build and repair terraces now so
that they may settle before the
hard spring and summer rains.
The new type farm explosives
are inexpensive methods of getting
rid of stumps and digging Hitches.
This is a good time to build or
repair fence3 if you are to handle
livestock.
Store machinery that has been
used during cultivating season and
grease parts that are likely to rust.
Animal Husbandry
Provide plenty of bedding, under
good shelter, for hogs. •
Make liberal use of winter for
ages (barley, rye, and oats) for
hog grazing.
Do not allow the sheep to take
the cold winter rains.
Give beef cattle , good roughage,
such as legume hay.
Feed mules cottonseed meal
along with other concentrates, if
grass hay or fodder is used for
roughage.
Give idle "mules access to rough-
age and cut concentrates one-half.
Dairying
Protect dairy cattle from direct
drafts and from rains.
Feed good-quality roughages .to
the limit of appetite for milking
cows.
Feed grain in proportion to milk
produced by each cow.
