Thursday, August 28, 1930 LOCAL ITEMS Mrs. W. A. Dunn of Double Branches, Ga., spent the week end with her sister, Mrs. Georgia Tal bert. Mrs. W. H. Wooten and little daughter, Jean, of Parksville spent a few days here last week with Miss Carrie Sue Talbert. Mr. Luther Andrews has return ed from a two weeks’ stay in Co lumbia. While there he broadcast ed popular piano numbers over station WIS, receiving many re quests for special numbers. Mrs. Julia Andrews spent the past week end in Evans, Ga., as guest of her sister, Mrs. Mamie E. Smith. Miss Sara Mann from Charlotte, N. C., and Mrs. Tollie Ellis from Abbeville are here on a visit to their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mann, on Avenue 5. Miss Edna Pettigrew of Starr is spending the week here as guest of Mrs. T. C. Faulkner. Mr. Paul G. White of East Point, Ga., is spending a week or so near town with his mother, Mrs., H. I. White. Miss Louise Lovelace of near town is spending this week with her uncle, Mr. Frank Lovelace, of Asheville, N. C. Dr. M. W. Cheatham and family of Columbia were visitors in town Monday afternoon. Miss Martha Kay of Honea Path is visiting Mrs. W. J. Milford. • Messrs. L. A. Swaney and J. W. Lovelace were business visitors to Bamberg several days last week. Mr. R. S. Owens of Clinton was seeing friends here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Rankin and Mrs. W. G. Jones of Aiken were among friends here Tuesday. Miss Carrie Sue Talbert has re turned from a visit to friends at Starr and Anderson. She expects to spend a week or two with her mother, Mrs. Georgia Talbert, be fore going back to Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Creighton and daughter, Mildred, and Mr. John Wesley Jennings spent the week end in Charlotte, N. C., with relatives. Misses Louise Remsen and Jewel Patterson have returned from a visit of several weeks to their aunt, Mrs. W. H. Wyse, of Yem- assee. • Mrs. Francis Oates and son, Ronald, and Mr. Emory Bentley of Darlington are spending some time here with their mother, Mrs. Isa belle Bentley. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Brown and daughters, Julia and Elizabeth, left today for Charleston, where they will spend several days with relatives. The regular social meeting of the T. E. L. Class will be held Friday af ternoon at 4 o’clock at the home Mrs. H. N. Coleman. Miss Frances Britt has resigned her position with the National City Bank, New York City, and has ac cented a position with Conyers High School, Conyers, N. Y., for the winter. • — Mrs. F. F. Edmunds and children Ruth and Harvey, and Miss Hope of Spartanburg are spending this week here with the former’s rela tives. Miss Julia Brown spent a few days the past week in Calhoun Falls with Mrs. W. B. Storey. Misses Helen Simmons of New berry and Mary Jane Patrick of Winnsboro are visiting Misses Katrina and Mary Ellen Morrah of the Bellvue section. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Bussey, spent the week end at Belton, Pel- zer and Spartanburg. Mr. Talbert McDaniel from Greenwood is spending this week here with his grandmother, Mrs. Georgia Reese. Mr. M. M. Marshall was a busi ness visitor at McCormick on Mon day of this week. Mr. J. D. Harvley of Augusta was a visitor here Monday to his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Harvley. Misses Rosalie and Lucy Bussey will leave Saturday for an extend ed visit to New York City. Mr. and Mrs. John Self of Plum Mariettl&J&arfey and Mr. John Dru Cade at six o’clock on Saturday evening, August 30th, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Charleston, S. C. A host of friends here of Mr. Cade extend to the happy couple, the heartiest congratulations and wish for them a long life of much joy, happiness and uefulness. Mr. Waters came up for the day and accompanied them home. We are glad to say that Mrs. J. W. Morrah is very much improv ed from her recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun Harris, Miss Alice Childs Harris of Ander son and Miss Josephine Philson of Abbeville were guests of Mrs. J. W. Morrah last Sabbath. Miss Elizabeth Hester of Ander son spent a few days last week with her mother, Mrs. Lena Hester. Mrs. Carrie Ouzts of Georgia was the guest of her sister, Mrs. S. D. Wells, part of last week.
