Strom left Tuesday for Savannah; Ga., where he will take a course of treatment at the gov ernment hospital. • Mrs. Edyth M. Woodward and two children have returned from Aiken after spending the holidays there. Messrs. I. C. Harrison and Joseph Murray of Greenwood were busi ness visitors here Tuesday. The Parent-teacher Association will meet Thursday afternoon at 3:30. All members and parents are urged to be present. Mason, Jr., vocational ; agricultural teacher in McCormick i School, has resigned and left Tues- i day to accept work at Powder Springs, Ga. The name of his successor has not yet been made ; known. Mrs. R. N. Edmunds of Parksville is on an extended visit to her sons, Mr. J. H. Edmunds of Orangeburg and Mr. R. J. Edmunds of Ben- nettsville. Miss Eleanor Printup from Au gusta spent a few days with Misses Rosella and Dolly Rankin last week. The Susannah Wesley Bible Class will meet at the home of Mrs. J. T. Martin tomorrow after noon at 3:30 o’clock. All members are urged to attend. Mr. E. F. Creighton was a busi ness visitor in Augusta Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Inman Griffin and little daughter of Americus, Ga., visited Mrs. L. E. Connor and fam ily the past week. Mr. Griffin spent part of the week in Atlanta on business, but returned to Mt. Car mel for the week and left Monday morning for their home in Ameri cus, Ga. Miss Martha Connor and Mr. Bever Williams were Greenwood visitors Sabbatli afternoon. Miss Irene Boyd was the charm ing guest of Miss Elizabeth and Mr. Buck McLane at dinner last Monday evening. Miss Gladys Scott spent part of the holidays with Miss Carolyn Tarrant in Greenwood, and Miss Tarrant returned home with her and. spent the past week as her guest. MODOC NEWS There is no reason why farmers of this section should not be pros perous and enjoy the wonderful advantages and conveniences of modern life. Slowly but surely we are learning how to farm and how to go about other things and that situation will make its permanent progress upon this section in the next few years. Misses Maggie and Iris Nash returned to their home at Lin colnton Sunday, after, spending last week here with their aunt, Mrs. W. M. Nash. Mr. R. G. Miss Lillian Reese was the spend the day guest last Sunday to Miss Rbsalie Bussey. Friends of Mr. C. B. Stone will be glad to know that he is up and about again. A goodly number attended the musical entertainment Saturday night, given in the home of Miss Rosalie Bussey.
