Loss by Fire. A house on Mr. G. J. Wilson's place, about six miles from the city, near the line between Townships 2 and 11, was destroyed by fire on Thursday night. Loss about $150. Newberry won two of the series of three games with the 0. G. R. mills in Columbia on Thursday, Friday and Sat iirday of last week, winning the first two and losing the last. In the first game Harrison was in the ox for Newberry, and Godfrey for Columbia, Harrison allowing twelve bits and Godfrey thirteen. Score, ?4 to 13 in favor of Newberry. In the second game Simpson handled the sphere for Newberry, and allowed nly five hits. Sanders occupied the box for Columbia and the New.berry boys batted him to the tune of eight bits. Score, 4 to 5 in favor of New-1 In the third and last game, with two already to her credit, and not wishing to dishearten the mill aggregation, Newberry allowed herself to be dlefeat ed by a score of 10 to 1. Laval, a left hand twirler, did the honors for Colum- < bia with only two hits to his credit, while Harrison for Newberry allowed1 12 hits to be written beside his name in the official score book. It seems that the two teams are very nearly evenly matched. Each has now won the same number of games and there has been one tie. Cheap Exzcurs oni to Atlante. The approaching Newberry College reunion, to be held at Little Mouatain on Friday, the first of August, promises to be one of the most successful in the history of these annual gatherings. An excellent program has been ar ranged, and everything possible will be (lone for the pleasure and comfort of those who attend. A special train over the C., N. & L. will leave Newberry at 8 o'clock Friday morning, and retui ning, leave Little Mountain at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Ample accommodations will be provided.
