The Delta band which is comp.)sed of some of the finest musicians in S. C. furnished the m%eic for the occasion. H. A SwdMen Death. Mr. John C. Sease was found dead in his bed Sunday morning at the home of -his brother, Mr. Leonard 8ease, who lives in the Piney Woods n8ction, near the Lexington line. Mr. .ease ate a hearty supper Saturday night and retired and on Sunday morn ing was found dead in his bed. He was 70 years o( age. Magistrate B. B Hair, of Prosperity, was sent for to hold On inkuest and the docters pronounced it death from apoplexy. Tae South Carolina Day. Thursday, March 20th, is South Car Vffba Day, at the Charleston Exposi tlon, and for this occasion the Southern railway annouces greatly reduced rates fro6m all points within the State to Charleston and return. The rate from Ne#berry will be $3.35, and Prosper * ty, $3.25 for the round trip. These tkets will be told for all trains on March 19th and 20th with final limit re -turning, five days after date of sale. The ncw mill is quite a popular Sun day resort. Hundreds visit there every pretty Sunday. Joseph T'. Hutehison is clerking at Mimnaugh's and would be pleased to have his friends call there to see him. The attention of the teachers of the county is called to the notice of Super intendent Werts, published in another column. Work on the new Mollohon mill is progressing nicely, and the contractors will soon have the.building ready for the machinery. The first game of ball of the season will be played on the college diamond this afternoon at 3 30 o'clock. The game will be interesting. Sheriff Buford turned the stolen buggy and horse over to the rightful owner on Saturday. It was the prop erty of Welch &Condor, liverymen of Columbia. The man who left them at the stable here has not been heard of since. Cards have been received in this city announcing the marriage in Greenville on April 1st of Mr. Ww. B. Werts, for merly of this city, and Miss Lillie May! Bruce, a popular young lady of that city. Mr. Werts has many relatives, and a large circle of friends in this county who join us in extendirg con gratulations in advance of the happy event. Personal. Mr. H. C, Moses, of Sumter, ar rived: in the city yesterday. Sheriff Buford went to Spartanburg yestarday on a bustuess trip. Mrs. Cole L. Blease is visiting her. parents at Pendleton. Col. W. H. Hunt went to Columbia yesterday on professional business. Miss Joe Jones has returned from Laurens and has resumed her duties at Mimnaugh's. Mrs. Watts Davis, of Clinton, spent Sunday in the city with her mother, Mrs. Mattie Glenn. Mr. S. J. Wooten has returned from the North where he went to buy his Spring stock of goods. Mr. L. W. Floyd and Mr Jno. M. Kinard went to Columbia yesterday and are expected to return today. Mr. R. L Bowis representativei of the: American Type Foundry, Baltimore, Md., was in the city yesterday and spent a pleasant hour with us. Misses Jeanne Pelham and Carrie Jones, of the Presbyterian College, Co umbia, came up Saturday to spenid a few days under the parental roof. Mr. P. J. Voss, after several days est at home, left yesterday for Ten-V essee in the interest of the National Meter Company, whicb he represents. Mr. Win. R. Smitb, of the Merchant and Miners Transportation Company, Atlanta, was. in the city yesterday saking hands with his many friends. Mrs. M. Mr. Thomas Wells Has a Bad Fall from Building in Columbia -Not Seriously Huit About noon yesterday one of th large plate glass windows in VanME tre's store was shivered by fallinj bricks. J. F. Green and Thomas Wellt two white workmen, were at work oi a scaffold which surrounds the ne; Farmers and Mechanics bank. Throug] some cause three or four feet of thi cornice which runs around the top o the building, was dislodged and fel striking the scaffolding and breakinj it. Green saved himself from the fal by clinging to the side of the building but Wells was thrown to the ground falling on the litter of bricks and scaf folding. He got up and walked ovei to McGregor's drug store where In was examined and found to be slightli bruised and cut, but otherwise unin jured.
