Mrs. M. C. Morris, wife of Mr. N. C.
Morris, died at her homne at Prosperity
on Saturday afternoon in tile 331d year
of her age. She leaves a husband and
one child with a large circle of relatives
and friends to mourn her death. She
was a consistent imeimber of the Baptist
church and was love,l by all who knew
her. 11er remains were buried at the
Prosperity cenmetery Sunday afternoon.

It was expressed as th sense of the
meeting that we adopt Memorial tributes
to only Members of our own catup.
Mrs. R. D. Wright, ex-president of
Drayton Rutherford C ) V. and vice
president of National C 1). V., being
present (by invitation) was by a rising
vote invited to the privilege of the floor.
She read a letter frot Mrs. S. E. Gabbett,
custodian, and gave the camp other val
uable information as regards to obtaining
the crosses of honor for all bona fide sol
diers who are nembers of the camip,
which information was referred to the
committee appointed at a previous neet
ing, viz: 0. 1, Schumpert, chairman,
Dr. S G. Welch, J. Cal Neel, R T. C.
Hunter and W. G. Peterson.
On notion, the following conumittee
was appointed to inetnoralize the Legis
latute in regard to rule third as adopted
by the committee U 1) C., viz: Con
rades 0. L. Schuntpert, G. F. Long and
) B. Wheeler.
The roll of the catup was then called
to secure facts as to the history of differ
ent members of the canp for information

The Chrietmas tree at St. Philips
proved a success it was laden with
many nice presents.
The Christmas lolidays was enjoyed

Some of the t,eople are not through
gathering their cotton crop, this has
not been known for years.
Dr. Dickert left last Sunday for
Charleston wle re he will finish his
medical course.
Mr. David Kihler, of Texas, is now

friends.
There have been more movings this
year than we have seen for a long
time.
The young folks of our community are
still having a jolly old time as we can
hear of a dance every few days.
We have not heard froi Josh Trump
in at long time he must be in the state
of sleep again and if he is I hope that
1902 will wake him up.

Our school has been closed this week
owing to the illness of our teacher,
Prof. R. C. Ununts. Hope he will
soon be able to attend to his dut,y in
the school room again.
Mr's. K. Baker and children, of
Greenwood, have been on a visit, to
Mr. A. A. Nate's family here.
Some of our farmers say the grain
has been frozen out pretty badly. We
hope, however, the grain hus not been
injured as badly as t,hought,. We
believe late so wing of oat,s are all k iled.
Some of the farmers say they will sow
over again.

days with her father's family.

a good sermon here Sunday afternooa
from the text: "Walk as the children
of light.'' The sermon was listened to
with much interest.
A new bridge with side railing has
beens recently put at, the calamus pond.
The bridges ought to be kept In good
condition if the roads don't get worked
when t,hey need it. The roads will be
wor'ked as soon as the weather will
permit,.
Carrie Lou, little daughter of Mr.
andl Mr's. 10. M. Cook died at their
home in this section on sunday after
noon, Jan. 5, 1902, after an illness of
about two wet-ks. The burial service
was conducted on Monday afternoon
by Rev. W. WV. McMorrim a and the re
mains were laid to rest In the Prosper
ity cemetery to await the morning of
the resurrect,ion. The little girl had
just reached the age to be the joy of
the home and will be greatly missed
by tho loving parents, relatives and
friends. We extend our sympathy to
the bereaved family and would say,
weep not fond parents as these who
have no hope for you shall meet your
darling litt,le girl again on that bright
and happy shore.

Sunday night Wicker Bros., at Reuben,
were burned out. Supposed to have been
the work of an incendiary.
Two buildings were burned and stock
of Goods. They did considerable busi
ness and had on had a large stock of iner
chandise.
The ueibers of the firm are J. P. and
1H. M. Wicker, and they place the lowest
estimate of (heir loss at $4,000, with no
insurance except what they have in the
