A Year's Business at the Dispensary.
Dispenser Mayer has furnished us
with the following figures showing the
business done at the local dispensary
during the year just closed. Of the
liqour sold the consumers price was
$44,587.21, invioce price, $33,089 90;
-general proceeds, $11,447.81; expenses,
$2, 688.35; net profits, $8, 778.90, which
was divided between the county and
town.

Mr. Forrest Goggans, son of Clerk of

days ago. lie had to swim to save his

Dr. E. 1P. Williams, who has been at
Brevard, N. C., for the past few months
running a drug businegs, has decided to
return to Newherry and accept his old
position at Dr. Van Smith's drug store.

sent to the Senate by the President
immediately upon its reassembling.

According to published announce
ment, the City Council met on Tuesday
evening for the purpos-o of holding their
annual election for subordinate oflicers.
There were many applications for
the different positions, but the Council
was only a short time in making their
selections, and the anxious crowd on
the outside was kept only a short while
waiting.

for the next twelve months:

Mr. Ira Nates and sisters, Misses
Alma and Daisy, spent Thursday with
relatives in Newberry.
Was glad to hear from "Chip,s"
again last week. Hope his health has
improved so that he can give us the
news from his section oftenor again.
Mr. Earnest Fellers and family visi
ted relatives here during the holidays.
Mr. Nichols and wife, of St. Lukes,
visited her father's family during the
holidays.
Mr. B. L. Miller and family will
move from here in Mt. Pilgrim section
this week. Mr. Bach man Cromer and

Mr. Bachman Pugh and wife visited
her sister, Mrs. E. M. Cook here last,
week.
Mr. J. D. Stone has the contract for
repainting Mt. Pilgrim church. The
paint brush will add much to the ap
pearance of the church, and then it
shows a deeper interest felt in the
church by the congregation.

with his brother's family, Mr. J. A.
C. Kibler.
