Roebuck, wbile at work on the Newberry Knit ting Mill putting up the smoke stack, met with what might have been a serious accident. One joint of the stack came loose and falling struck Mr. Roe buck knocking him f rom the building a distance of about sixteen feet-break. lug his right arm just below the elbow, and slightly bruising him otherwise. For sate by W E. Pelham. Hie Stole Corn Sacke. Some days ago Mr. D). L. Copeland missed eome corn sacks-from his stables aind notified the police force. Mr. H. H. Franklin began work on the case and soon had George Miller lodged in jail. After some investigation, Mr. Franklin found that the sacks had been sold at the Oil Mill, and Miller was ar rested on suspicion and earried before Mr. Dominick at the Oil Mill and iden tifled as the man who sold the sacks. He afterwards confessed his guilt. Miss Annie Bynum, who is teaching in Florence Graded School, is expected home tomorrow. Mr. W. C. Bynum, principal of the Georgetown Graded School, is expected home tomorrow. Miss Julia Pendleton, a student of Elizabeth College, is visiting her aunts, Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Cromer. Messrs. H. H. Evans, J. C. Purcell and 0. 1i. Dominick, of Newberry, are in the city.-The State, Dec 19. Miss Mary Burton will leave Satur day to visit relatives at Savannah and other places during the holidays. Thompson will leave to morrow for Philadelpbla to spend Christmas with his daughter, Miss Mary. Prof. E. B. Setzler, who is, taking a post graduate course at Charlottsville, Va., came home yest.erday to spend the holidays. The Woman's Christian Temperance Union will hold its regular meeting this afternoon at :3 o'clock in Temper ance Hall. Mr. Frank Mayes, of Anderson, came down Tuesday to attend the marriage of his brother, and will remain here for the holidays. Dr. James 0. Wells, of Minneapolis will arrive in Newberry tomorrow on a visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Os borne Wells. Mr, and Mrs. Jas. A. Bowers, of At lanta, Ga., are expected to a-rive here tomorrow to spend Christmas with their parents. Mr. H. M. Wicker, of Mt. Pleasant, in this county, has moved to town and occupies one of T. Q. Boozer's cottages in Brooklyn. Dr. Ralph Edwards, who has been wit,h The Reeder Pharmacy, has ac cepted a position in Orageburg and will leave tomorrow. Bearden has been called to th6 Lexington charge of the Evangelical Lutheran church, com prising the churches of Providence, St..
