Crouch has been appointed, and has received his commission, as Post Master at Old Town S. C. Magistrate J. 11. Chappell has ap polited Mr. P. F. Baxter constable. lie takes the place vacated several weeks ago by Mr. C. B. Tidwell. Several of our subscribers remem bered us yesterday by calling and set tling for their paper, and we added several new names to our list. Christmas goods are being displayed in the store windows. Solitor Sease once more demonstrated the fact that the voters made no mis take when they return him as Solicitor without opposition. His management of the case against Gibson was fine. With an able Solicitor and a Spartan burg jury there is not much chance for a miscarriage of justice.-Spartan burg Herald. Methodist Appointments. Wharton. Presiding Elder-Rev. R. A. Childs. A Succespfrul Colo,ed Man. G. C. Williams, Superintendent of the Farm and instructor in dairying at the State Colored College at Orange burg, is in the city for a few days. He has held his position at this college for. four years and given entire satisfaction as was shown by his promotion thisl year to instructor in dairying, filling the plae of a professor. Williams has made a success in life which is marked for a colored man. Hie began by haul ing brick and carrying mortar in New berry afterwards going to school at Hampton Va., nd four years ago r ceiving the appointment at Orangoburg. Hie has accumulated considerable pro perty, own ng two plantations in the county and a nice house and Jot in New berry. The Executive Committee of the Democratic party of the ci1y of Ne% - berry met on Saturday, December 1st and proceeded to canvass the votes cast at the primary election for mayor and aldermen held Friday. November 30, 1900. Upon a canvass the following can didates, who had pledged themselves to abide the result of said election, were declared to have received the majorily of votes cast for the several offices, to wit: Otto Klettner, for mua3 or.
