The hunting season opened yester.

and it is now unlawful for any person

Grouind Blroken.
The building committee of the New
berry Knitting Mill has let the con
tract to Mr. E. HI. Leslie, and ground
has been broken and work begun. The
~" building is to be a twvo-story brick
structuire, 40Ox00 feet, with an engine
room 21x25 feet. The work wIll be
pushed to completion so that the mill
. can begin operations by the first of the
new year.

We visited the State Fair on Wed
nesday, but as we expect the edtor to

will let hini tell you till about it. It
was the best we L,ave ever attended.
Special services will be held next
Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock by the
congregation, and Sunday-school of the
Church of the Itedeemer in the Inter
est of the Seminary eundowment move
ment.
It Is rumored that at an early date a
local pasfeiger train will be put on the
C., N. & L. between Columbia and Lau
rens, leaving Laurens in the morning
and returning from Columbia late in
the afternoon. We hope that this is
true, for it will prove quite a conve
nience in this section.
The Southern road ran a "Newberry
Special" to the Fair on Wednesday and
Thursday mornings. The regularly
advertised extra from Anderson was in
charge of that popular railroad man,
Capt. Ed Motte, and he made the triv
just as pleasant as poesible for his pat
rons. le Is one of the most genteel
and courteous railroad men in the em
ploy of the Southern system.
