Robert Land, the youngest child of
Mr. and Mrs. Jtjo. M. Kinird, died at
their residence in New berry yesterday
evening at twilight.. lie had been sick
only a few hours with thatt terrible die
case for 'child ren, dvpt berit. He wits
jiust two years old ti was the idol of
his fond parents and all Ihat medical
skill could do was done, but it was de
ereed for soene wise puIpos that, his
life hero should be cut short and his
spirit took Ilight with the setting sun
and beyond the darkness and the clouds
he will bask in the -unshine and light
of the gloriousdr.y. His life was given
for some1O wise purpose an(d that purpose
has been fullilled. We may not seo the
wisdom of it now but we shall some day.
To the parents and family we extend
our sympathy.

The address of the evoning was deliv
ered by Rev. W. 11. Hliller, pastor of

by a select choir wa-4 excellently ren
detred, and made the occasion the more
enjoyable.

t,ing machine. Mr. ]Blats is a fast,
punctual and t,horoughly reliable young
man and w'll succeed in what he un
dertakes.
The Misses Glenni will leave this
week to take charge of their schools
which will open on Monday. Miss
Tilia will teach again this year at Po
msria, and Miss Lenna will teach at
Kinards. These young ladies are ex
cellent teachers, having been t,horough
ly prepared for the work, the schools
are indeed fortunate in securing their
services.
Fred ititchie, colored, of Newborry,
flagman on the C., N. & L. train No.
28, went out a short distance below
Prosperity Monday afternoon to flag
his trmaini, sat down on the crosstles and
fell-asleep. The train moved off and
the negro arose just as It came upon
him and struck him a heavy blow, Hie
was thought at the time to be fatally
injured, but fortunately for him his in
juries have proven not to be serious.
