Questions Answecred.
Yes, August Flower still has the larg
3et sale of any medicine in the civilized
vorld. Your mothers and grandmoth
irs never thought of using anything
31s0 for indigestion or biliousness. Doe
~ors were scarce, and they seldom heard
f appendicitis, nervous prostration or
bieart failure, etc. They used August
i'iower to clean the system and stop fer
nentation of undigested food, regulate
the action of the liver, stimulate the
servous and organic action of the sys.
bemn, and that is all they took when
reeling dull and bad with headaches
and other aches. You only need a few
loses of Green's August Flower, in 11

is nothing serious the matte.r with you.

CanlidIato for Mayor.
To the Voters of the City of New
berry:
I take this method of announcing
myself as a candidate for the ollice of 1
Mayor of this city in the election this h
fall. I have been advocating and ex
pect to make the race on the qiistion
of reducing street duty from $1 to $2, n
and have other Important issues which
I will place before the voters of the h
city at the proper time. T do not de
sire to begin a long and heated cam
paign, but have reasons for announcing
myself at-this time, which will be given
later. I ask the voters not to commit h
themselves until all the issues of the a
coming campaign have been discussed.
which I hope the candidates will be re
quired to do this year before the Y
people. Respectfully. (

-The iBoard Refuses.
The committee appointed by the
County Democratic Executive Com
mittee to present the resolution asking c
the County Board of Control to defer
the election of a dispenser until after ~
the primary election in order that the
people might recommend a man for ,
that position, called on the Board
yesterday morning and p)resented the
resolution.
The Board stated that as they saw it
and understood the law, and feeling it
their duty to carry out the law strictly, ~
that they would have to refuse the re- C
quest. t
The time of the p)resent dispenser I
or his term of office, exp)ires on the last ~
day of August, and the Board claims e
that his term of office being only one t
year, could not hold over until his sue
cessor elected in a primary election
could qualify.e
The Individual members of the Board 5
expressed themselves as favoring the
election of nll officers by the primary
plan, but felt that to (10 their duty and
carry out the law as they see it, that I
in this ease they would have to refuse '
the request of the Executive Comn- ~
mittee.
A correctuon.
A fe~w weeks ago in writing up the
shooting of a negro woman in Laurens
County, who died in this county, we -
stated that Coroner Lindsay held the .
inquest over the dead body, and that r
the warrant was placed in the hands of E
the laurens authorities. In this we
were mistaken. The warrant was I
placed in the hands of the Sheriff of r
Newberry, and Mr. Yancy Flioyd made '
the vArest under the Coroner's indict
ment and the negro placed in the New
berry jail accordiung to law, under See- I
tion 119 of the revised Stuoutes of the
State, which reads as follows:
Sec. 110 (2564). When a person shall<
be struck, wounded, poisoned or other-<
-wise injured in one county, and die
thoroof in another, any injunction or
indictment thereon found by jurors of -
either county shall be as good and ef
fectual in law as if the stroke, wound,
poisoning or other injury had been
committed and done in the county
where the party shall die, and the per
son guilty of such striking, wounding,]
poisoning or other injury, and every
accessory thereto, either beforecor after'
the fact, shall be tried in the county
-where such indictment shall be found,
and if convicted, punished in the same
'mode, manner and form as if the de
ceased had suffered such striking,
-wounding, poisoning or other injury
Sand death in the county where ouch
indictment shall be found.
