denly at her hom, on the 23d instant.
None of her child,vn or near relatives
knew of her illness till they were noti
fled of her death. She was the daugh
ter of the I to'.. Joel A nderston, and was
a most ania6le Christian woman. She
was an aunt of Messrs. Claude A. ted
L. W. Floyd of this city. She leavcs a
husband, a son, and two daughters, one
of whom is attending the Columbia Fe
male College and the other the Wil
liamiston Female College.

A Narrow Escapes.
* Friday night, while the College boys
S were retuninmg from Clinton on the
mnixed train, Master Ed ward Hiouscal
met with a painful accident, which was
a narrow escape from fatality. As the
train c tme around the curve near
Cline's shop Edward was On thle steps,
thinking that if the speed of the train.
slackened sufliciently he would jumpli
off, and bei that much nearer hlome.
Hie slipped, and sceitng that he was go
ing to fal', jumped. Hio struck the
ground on his head and left shoulder,
j breaking the collar hone. Dr. Kibler
was Immediately called in, and under'
his treatment Edward Is doing nicely.

The college boys will go up to Due
