by Shot in the Foot.
Tho ringing out of several pistol
shots on the main street of our city
Saturday night at about 8 30 o'clock
caused great excitement among our
people, many of whom rushed to the
scene to investigate the trouble.
jI:. James A. Bradley and Mr. J. A.
Cook, two prominent young men of the
city, got into a dispute which resulted
in a blow and finally the discharging of
their pistols at each other. Six or
eight shots were fired.
They were standing in front of &rd
near Mr. S. B. Jones's Store, and sev
eral of the bullets are imbedded in the
walls thereabout, as some wild shoot
ing was done, and neither of the con
bat.uts hit.
Mr. Lawson B. Kibler happened to
be passing just at the time the shoot
ing began, and one of the balls struck
him in the foot. The ball entered the
side of h is foot and seemed to range up.
The doctors have not been able to 10.
cate the ball as yet. Several of the
small bones in the foot are shattered,
and the wound will give Mr. Kibler
considerable trouble and may make him
a cripple for life. His many friends
hope, however, that in a few days he
will entirely recover from the wound
and be as sound as ever. In the hands
of Drs. J. M. Kibler and W. G. Houseal
ho will want for no attention In the
medical line.
It is simply miraculous that, in the
crowded condition of the streets at the
time, several persons were not killed.
Th, young men were before Mayor
Mayer yesterday morning and plead
guilty to drawing a weapon with intent
to injure another. They were fined
$75 each or 30 days on the streets.
Both of the young men have given
notice of appeal to the Circuit Court, on
the grounds that the fine imposed was
excessive. C. L. Blaase, Esq., will
represent Mr. Bradley, and F. H. Domi.
