a rough road to travel and if lie sulers

he will not from his last experience he
may almost be considered an immune.
Samuel was in our oflico yesterday and
he is a bright and manly little follow
and we sincerely hope that Mr. lleard's
Mad stone may have all of the poisonl
from the mad dog out of his system.
lie did not, secen to minld it in the
least.
At two years old or thereabouts Sam
nol drank somio concentrated lye mis
taking it for a glass of lutteriilk. A
short t,1me after this he got hold of the
liudanum boLt,io and took ai big drink
of it. Atld ater this he got somue sul
phur imiatelhes and ato thoim. A nd still
li Is living and looks well. His father
says that inl bone of these exper-iences
Samuel had a nard pull to got, through
but he ;k here, hale and heart,y.
On Sat.ilday morning last Sam uel
was playing M ith the pot dog of the
family, a half shepherd, and the dog
bit bnam on the arm. Some time after
this the dog showed signs of hydropho
bia and had fits. Ml r-. Lake immediate
ly became alarmed about the bite on
Samuel's arm, though it was but a
scratch, and they consulted Dr. Long
shore. He told then he could do noth
ing. Mr. Lake then thought. of Mr.
Board's mad stone and went Sunday
m1or1ning to Chapin to test the virtues
of this wonderful stone. The dog wias
shot, soon after it showed signs of I.e.
ing mad.
The mad stone was applied to the
bitten arm at 6 o'clock Sunday after
noun and adhered for seven hours. It
was then taken off and washed and ap
plied a second time. This tine it, did
not 6tick very well and it was tied fast
and remained on the balance of the
night.
Mr. Lake returned yesterday with
Samuel and he hopes there will be to
trouble from the bite of the dog. So
